My dd was saying the same thing, and while I don't disagree(I do like Solo), I thought the team looked slow. Back line was bad which doesn't help the GK. France appeared to want it more, was 1st to ball much more. Some players I consider starters, didn't come in the game until too late, but what do I know. Horrible soccer in any event.

I don't know if goalie to blame. Back line of 3 experiment gone way wrong. France beat US at their own game. I put most the blame on coach. HOPE she learns from it.

Agreed with Boilerjoe. the team looked slow especially in the middle. They also weren't doing the basics, like on the 1st goal France scored, we(USA) won the foul in the back and Brian failed to check her shoulder which resulted in a turnover,25 yds out in the middle of the field. Casey short looked very uncomfortable handling the ball in the back, there were a couple of times where she just was getting rid of of with what seemed like random "big kicks". The french were super athletic,especially the right winger, my daughter said" you do not want to take a bad touch when she is around". Maybe the US wasnt prepared for that level of pressure on the ball from the french athletes. Lynn Williams is big and athletic and dangerous, however i think she is more of a super sub vs starter...Crystal Dunn is more of a playmaker right now, she has better touches and game intelligence. Lastly; There were significant gaps in the french defense because they pressed so much on the outsides.. love Carli however she seemed slow....If you put Mal Pugh in that position we could have taken advantage of the middle and been very dangerous.

Le Sommer might be the best forward in women's soccer right now. She is in her prime.

I certainty don't know about France but the German team has already played 12 or more games this year. The US team's first game together since last year was the first game of this tournament.
