BTW, if you leave your house now you will make Sting practice in Fairview by October.
Enjoy

As nice as those fields are, and as much as boilerjoe and I might like the commute to FSP, if that is the backup plan, that will be a very bad move. For 90% of the Metroplex, East of 75/North of 121 = Oklahoma...
PIT+ is a much more tolerable option from the physical location standpoint.

Keeping it a secret from everyone not on this board is complete BS. And the possibility of moving practices from the Sting complex to Fairview, but not letting parents know 'til the last minute (or later), is effectively giving them all the big middle finger.
As Sting sits and spins, it will be interesting to see where the team fact sheets show that practice locations will be.

I am sure those fact sheets will be handed out right after they sign.SickofSilliness wrote:Isn't it only fair to let parents know NOW what the plan is?

Re: Sting Complex Sold?
Many of you may or may not remember some of the "giants" of club soccer who are no more:
Longhorns, Andromeda (not the recent Andomeda FC), Comets, Genesis, etc, etc, etc...
Many fell due to acquisition, some collapsed, and a few fell due to some very public financial scandals.
Don't ever think that any club you know and trust is untouchable. If a club has lost many team/coaches, is about to loose it's premier practice facility then it should be engaging clients with some active dialog . . . especially with signing day on the horizon.

Re: Sting Complex Sold?
Those others clubs you name were indeed big, important clubs, but there's hardly another youth organization in the country - in any sport - that can compare with Sting's legacy. What they've done in the past 3 or 4 decades is incredible. The fact that we may be looking at the beginning of the end is shocking and I imagine isn't something anyone would have predicted 2 years ago.

It is good for the NTX to consolidate the talents into top 3 and compete nationally.

Re: Sting Complex Sold?
If sting can stabilize their ECNL teams enough to dominate that league and consolidate their geographic expansion they may actually be stronger when and if they decide to join DA. Having the Big-5 creates some much needed competition in NTX. D'Feeters and Sting may find themselves at a disadvantage over time but they have time.
The communications about the Richardson Grounds and the DA exit could definitely have been handled better.

Re: Sting Complex Sold?
Looking at a model that literally brings in zero cash, only sends it out was prob the best non investment Sting has made lately.

.newbiefornow wrote:I wouldn't write Sting off just yet. This sort of thing tends to ebb and flow. My personal opinion is that stepping back from DA lost Sting several good players from ECNL but as a % of all the players they have that's a small number. Meantime they've expanded their territory. I know why they said they dropped DA but my sense is it was a mistake. Anybody committed enough to be on this board probably would agree but I stand to be corrected.

LOL. What communication? To my knowledge they haven't had any yet.

Sting is going on 45 years and Feet are going on 40, yet parents with 10 year olds are posting about their downfall.
They're not communicating because...
A. They don't have to.
B. Parents will channel their inner Chicken Little
C. They still are an ECNL club and will survive a coach or two leaving.
D. When push comes to shove people rather right a check to Sting than some independent club
And
E. Who's getting your DD that scholarship, the pink ponies?

Anyway...2 questions all should ask...
Do they know what they're plans are?
Do you think the success of a 45 year old club will depend on a few fields?
It's actually a situation every club has faced or will face. Property is expensive so most soccer clubs lease the land they use with the full knowledge it can be pulled out from under them if a better deal comes along.
