Is it common to charge a guest player a portion of the tourney cost? Daughter was asked to guest play as the team was short on numbers. No mention before about fee,or after tourney was over. Just received an invoice from team via email.

Not a lot of money, and I will pay it in order to avoid any friction. Just a bit surprised, and was curious if that is normal practice for guest players.

hahahahahahaha how cheap can you get. Asked to guest play then sent an invoice???? what club and team??? we all have to know this!!!!

Agree with U ^^. We had guest played in a tourney last year and was never invoiced or even mentioned of payment. It's kind of like the rule in a business lunch: "(s)he who asks, should pay." Rather humorous. Not sure if I'd want to guest play with that team again....LOL

as a keeper parent, when my daughter has guested I always offered up front. However, sending an invoice post tourney is a little weird.

From what I can tell, the manager and coach don't always clarify these things with eachother. The manager probably sent the invoice without talking to the coach.

Sometimes the TM gets power hungry! A good coach would not want this reputation. I always offer to pay and have always been told no thanks. The next time this team comes calling your DD should be busy!!!!

1. Yes - They asked her teammate who had played with them before if there might be someone on current team who could help.
2. No - current plans do not include ever playing for that team

TxBill, I've asked players to guest for a lot of teams over a lot of years, and my girls have played as guests, and have never paid or asked others to pay. I'm guessing this is probably a small independent team with a fairly green parent-manager who's just learning the ropes (giving them too much benefit of the doubt)

I think you are spot on. It is a smaller club and seems like the manager was a bit disorganized.
