No HS Soccer for ECNL?
No HS Soccer for ECNL?
Interesting development from Michigan Hawks web:
They will have 2 ECNL teams per age group in 2018-19. One will be a 10-month program where kids can play other sports but NOT HS soccer. The second will be a 6-month program where they can play HS soccer.

This is a dumb idea, but I get why ECNL did this. They did this because they had a team this year in DA and ECNL, so to keep them "all in" ECNL, we'll give you 2 teams in ECNL. Now its the clubs decision to lure those players not to jump ship to another club to play DA because of their strict 10 month program, they are creating 2 different squads. Cost should be cheaper for the 6 month program. What would be funny is if the 6 month program does better than the 10 month program which would state that extra 4 month training does not mean you're getting that much better. Then parents to could really justify the cost benefit if the 6 month program truly does better.

Where the heck did you read that?

I see nothing in their statement that talks about having 2 separate teams. All is see is that they are going to change their training format to a 10-month schedule instead of taking a break for HS season (which is Spring in Michigan), and will still allow their players to play HS if they want. Is there something posted elsewhere that specifically says they will have 2 teams per age group?

There's some definite lawyer speak in that e-mail. "6 Month ECNL Programming". To me, this smells like ECNL/Composite or ECNL/ECNL2 or ECNL/ECDL or DA/DA2 or DA/DPL or DA/FDL or etc.
We'll see what comes out of it, but that's sure looks like Hawks tiptoeing around the "6-Month" team not really being the full-fledged ECNL squad.
