SOLAR SOCCER CLUB 2009 TALENT IDENTIFICATION SESSIONS Empty Re: SOLAR SOCCER CLUB 2009 TALENT IDENTIFICATION SESSIONS

The old bait and switch has started.. "Come train with us because we think you might be the best of the best.. only to find out you will be put in the training pool to eventually be placed on a team with a coach to be named later after you sign where your DD has no friends."

Gotta love May... Come on man.. at least call it what it is.. "We are looking for 1 or 2 girls to fill out the top team.. the rest will be a paycheck for coaches who can't fill their team with parents who can afford to write the check.."

Parents.. Do your homework and be brutally honest with yourselves.. U9 is too early to be looking at USWNT aspirations. Enjoy the ride and have fun with your DD and her soccer journey. It's not about the win/loss column.. It's about the goofy play where your DD misses the ball on a aspirational attempt to pull off a Messi, or the chant the girls yell before the match, or the ice cream you get after the game talking about the awesome save your keeper made. When your DD is 16 and is burned out because the game became a job, you are gonna miss this.. I sure do.

SOLAR SOCCER CLUB 2009 TALENT IDENTIFICATION SESSIONS Empty Re: SOLAR SOCCER CLUB 2009 TALENT IDENTIFICATION SESSIONS

Post by Solar Soccer Club Events 10/05/18, 07:49 am

Should your kids play recreational soccer, where the goal is participation, friendship and fun? Or should you go out for a competitive team, where players are expected to focus, play well and develop?

Competitive soccer is not for everyone and that's okay. We are here to develop the talent of motivated student athletes that show a passion for the game.

So which one is the best fit for your child?

Think about your kid. Does he or she love soccer? Competitive soccer requires commitment and a love of playing outdoors. While recreational soccer is played in the fall and spring, competitive soccer is a nearly year-round affair. It means occasionally playing in extreme weather.

Does your child have time? Competitive soccer players often train at least twice a week for most of the season. Plus they play one or two games most weekends during spring and fall and in summer tournaments. And while recreational players can show up for their games minutes before start time, competitive players show up at least 45 minutes early to warm up.

Consider the cost.
Competitive soccer is pricier than recreational soccer. Recreational soccer, which depends largely on volunteers and takes place on public fields, costs about $120 to $150. Competitive soccer can cost a significant amount more depending on the team and its commitments.

We encourage everyone to educate themselves and make the best choices for their family.

Is this JDL tryouts? How many days do you recommend interested players attend?
