New travel leagues announced by LH and PPL

League announcements were made by both LH and PPL concerning new travel leagues.

LH's new travel league is recruiting D2 type players and really good players that want to play in HS. No need to worry about relegation or performance because we are only allowing a select few teams to compete in it season after season. If you're willing to travel and pay for it, we want you. The competition will be all over the board, it's like a box of chocolate, you never know what you get till you hit the field. This creates anticipation on a weekly basis which keeps the kids on edge and excited. This new league will be called FDL.

PPL's new travel league will be one notch lower, but will travel just as much. Since most of these teams can't qualify for LH, we've decided it's time to hit the road and find teams we can beat. The costs will be significantly more than a LH team, but that's the price to pay when you have to travel to find someone you can beat. This new league will be called ECNL2.

Now I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

That's a fair point Mr Juggles, you and your friend the Doctor seem like very rational and well spoken posters.

We've recognized the perception that these leagues are just thrown together and not very well thought out. So this time around we gathered all the major players to come up with a plan. USSF, USYS, NTX SOCCER, FIFA, MSA, BIGESMAMA, FSA, all the clubs that charge and David May.


What we discovered is the consumer prefers a very confusing, mismanaged mess of leagues. This way parents can find a team and league that they can talk about with friends. We had it all wrong when we tried to consolidate talent. What works best is the complete dilution of talent, followed by a new league every year to keep the interest and prices up. The old system allowed people to see the end game too easy, the end game being maybe a little college and then nothing. With the new fluid and constantly changing system, people have no idea there is no long term payoff for all this so they stay happy and intrigued.

Hey Jim, Meredith still messing around with that Volleyball club? Suzie really smashed it in Houston this weekend in the new and more prestigious FDL. Totally smashed a D2 kid to the ground.  Stomped all over her.  Parents were going ballistic.  You could even hear someone yelling "All day long baby".  We showed them what money can buy. Anyways, keep it real with V-Ball.

The “Champions” League is now ECNL2? Clever branding! Since no one really understood Composite, that sounds very attractive. Add in that your DD never has to worry about relegation AND gets that cool ECNL2 tag? Who cares about those pesky travel fees?

Maybe the new leagues will travel to the green states and come see me.
