Almost makes me feel bad about complaining about the drive to Chinn Chapel...almost.

Are we going to have any games at UTD or is the entire season going to be out at Chinn Chapel?

I was told from JCL that UTD is only a back up field.

Maybe the Fever team picked up some strong players over the summer?

Is there a mercy rule in this league?

Going to be some real lopsided games. Afraid it might get ugly for some teams.

I don't know about a lot of games in the 20s, but I think they will have more double digit games than not. 21-0 is a whip for football, let alone soccer. :/

I blame the coach, why would he allow his team to continue to score 21 goals? If you look at their got soccer account you will see they have a history of running up 10-0 scores on team.

Can you imagine the sideline cheering for all 21 goals?

Had this discussion on the boys side it seems like every year. Or is it more embarrassing to play keep away and pass up every goal you could score? You can’t ask the girls not to play hard. Maybe the losing coach should not have entered his team in this league? It’s no fun for anyone involved, but the YMCA will give everyone a medal and has rules against this so maybe that is an option until they are ready. Or bronze primetime.

I think this is a good team to recruit for the next club bye that's left over from teams moving up what ya think?

I do believe the team that got beat will become exponentially better after playing in this league. However, I hope the coach made it very clear to the parents and children that this is going to happen. They will be competitive with a couple of teams in the group and that is about it.

In addition, by playing in this league when the QT comes around they shouldn’t be ranked any lower than 30. That may pay dividends as well, instead of being ranked 50 something.

But 21-0, come on, you can’t tell me an experienced coach doesn’t know how to dial it back and still keep it challenging for his team. Character definitely plays into this score. Who knows, maybe they winning coach is worried about finishing second in the group.

Theres a bye waiting for them at the cost per player. Tears will be wiped very soon it will soon pass.

There are plenty of ways, for example scoring from headers only, shots from 30 yards out only, shoot with weaker foot, etc etc.  If you look at their got soccer history you will see 2 other games scored 10-0.

Those tears wont last forever there will be place to purchase to make everyone feel good inside.

Please tell us about this utopian shopping center! I love spending money, especially when it is frivolous and pointless.

I think a couple of your options are a little difficult (or illegal) for an 09 girl’s team (headers only and goals from 30 yards out), but your point is dead on. We have gone a man down when up really big (even 2 down, once). Playing without a center mid allows the other team to hold possession a little better and forces your team to be more creative linking up on attack.
We have pulled the striker and forced the goals to come from runs on the wings which helps the center mid to work on taking the space and finding the outlet. One time we pulled both outside backs and made the outside mids play as wing backs. (And then rotated subs as they ran their shorts off trying to transition)

You can get creative and Dribble your team to work outside their comfort zone. You have to find some sort of balance in order for it to be a productive game for the winning side in a blowout. Otherwise all you do is learn bad habits.
I don’t like to put restrictions on the players in situations like these (don’t do this, or only score like that) because I want them to still feel the game and problem solve naturally. I do want to make it more challenging in the most natural way possible.

Bottom line is the coach of the team that got beat 0-21 should never have registered his team for this league. The league also shouldn't have accepted them. This team's latest FBR rank is No. 85. That speaks for itself. There are several teams that were in the FBR top 30 that did not register for this league, which is also confusing.

Thanks for responding and I do like your suggestions for managing teams when you're out matching the opponent. Very creative
