Never had a kid play for him but have watched his teams for years and have shared a sideline a few times ... If you can't have a positive experience with AF, best of luck out there.

Re: DKSC ECNL/ECRL U18/19 Tryout Sessions
UPDATE more players left/leaving most are out.........from what I am told, this "new" coach told all of the parents and players during the initial meeting with the players and parents of which there was more than 120 people there, that his top priority was the ECNL clubs. To date he has missed over 50% of the ECNL games and training, and as recently as this weekend he left an ECNL game at halftime to go coach his old D1 L'pool team. Not the commitment you typically see of most of the excellent DA and ECNL coaches out there.
All of the current players talk, and he is now telling them all the same story when they talk individually. He says they are in his top 8 players and the girls have figured out his story to each of them is the same.
When he finds out they are going to other tryouts, he gets mad at them even though he told all of them go to other tryouts.
The team is just not in a good position as a result of the coaching change. It is really that simple. As most expected he will likely fill the ECNL team with many of his D1 l'pool players even though in the previous team meetings he said publicly to all that there were maybe only 1-2 players on his l'pool D1 team that had the skills to play ECNL but to fill out this roster feet will have to rely on his old D1 players.
The team moral is at a all time low. Not an ideal place to be right now.

3 wins in 4 ecnl games (unbeaten in 4) has the moral at an all time high. I left the game at half yes, and we still won, I have a commitment to all of my kids. It sounds like you are currently on the inside and are not happy, I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you.

Re: DKSC ECNL/ECRL U18/19 Tryout Sessions
Sadly it is all true and factual, but anybody can make an argument otherwise. Every coach thinks his team's moral is great. What else could you possibly say, its not good?..........just saying ask around and do your homework before you commit to any team. Look at the coaches history and how his coaching counter parts view him.
out of curiosity which items below are not true?
The coach left an ecnl game early at halftime to coach his preferred D1 team?
In fact the coach took ecnl players to play in your D1 game from what I heard, which for the record is in potential violation of D'feeters club rules playing players in multiple league games back/back putting players at potential risk.
or the ECNL coach told the team to look at other tryout options?
or that the coach has missed a huge amount of ECNL training/games?
or team moral is reportedly low? If you think moral is high, just a blatant indication of being completely out of touch with a team.
Good luck D'feeters.......great club, many fantastic coaches now and in years gone by but questionable and very curious coaching change that is just not a good decision. It happens.

* He did leave early, oh well, it happens when coaches have other teams. He didn't leave them without a coach. The girls won, what's the harm in that? I haven't seen favoritism at tryouts, have you?
In fact the coach took ecnl players to play in your D1 game from what I heard, which for the record is in potential violation of D'feeters club rules playing players in multiple league games back/back putting players at potential risk.
*ONE player left---- the goalie, at half time, her parents could have easily said no.
or the ECNL coach told the team to look at other tryout options?
*Yes, that was said, but how do we know it wasn't to try to get the girls to fight harder and prove him wrong. Maybe he wanted to see who would step up?
There is a reason that every girl on that team is there. This coach was given a team that only scrimmaged in some form for an entire year for practice. AF has really whipped them back into shape as a team.
or that the coach has missed a huge amount of ECNL training/games
* A huge amount? 1 game and I think three practices.....as apposed to the two almost three months that the girls were off under the old coach? Come on!!
or team moral is reportedly low? If you think moral is high, just a blatant indication of being completely out of touch with a team.
*reportedly low? Have you asked the girls this? Have you spoken directly to a D'Feeters girl? The morale was low prior to the change for sure! It's not an overnight turn around on morale, the team has to be built back up. We will see how the season ends.
Good luck D'feeters.......great club, many fantastic coaches now and in years gone by but questionable and very curious coaching change that is just not a good decision. It happens.
*There were reasons for the coaching change, I have my theories as I'm sure other parents have theirs. Girls were leaving left and right and the team dropped in stats.

Re: DKSC ECNL/ECRL U18/19 Tryout Sessions
From my understanding, the team did not train much because literally every kid on the team played HS soccer and trained 5 days a week for 2 hours at HS, but if you you think they should train more on top of that, then you have a way different approach and opinion than the rest of the world.
The coach was asked during a team meeting according to many parents who were there, where is your priority and he said always with ECNL teams..............so your wrong again, he left an ECNL game to coach his long time L'pool team. I dont see a big problem with that however, but it is not remotely close to what he stated in the multi team meeting. This coach is NOT forthright in his communication and a long history of it.
And last and best of all, your a new coach and you tell your entire new team to go look for other options, BUT that is not really what you mean? Are you serious? That is a joke. That is exactly the communication that is the history of this coach. Not how we do it here in America.......playing mind games with players who have been on d'feeters teams for several seasons is one of the dumbest things I can ever imagine a coach doing. Just not smart or exactly a great start to the "rebuilding process".
But your right, winning will fix it all, right? This whole process is about winning? Never seen a college soccer coach inquire about a player and asking what the team's record is..........never happens. Never will So if the entire goal is to win, then maybe he can do that. What does that get you when your season is over, a trophy or ribbon? This is a process and the prize of the process is college visibility as any of these players move forward into college soccer, if they have the ability.
This coach has very little if any college coaching contacts, no college experience at all in fact, so if you goal is to win a few more games vs gain access to college soccer programs, then by all means saddle your horse to the new coach and maybe he can win you a few more games and you feel really good.
Again, wish him well just not the kind of coach many want in a very important time in their soccer career. The previous response was all you need to know......."yes I left the ECNL game to coach my L'pool team, but we still won the ECNL game and I was not there." So they won without you?
hmmmmmm........what does that say about the impact you have. But go ahead take credit for the win even though you were in the parking lot before the half was over.

Closer than you think.

Fully aware they were all on HS soccer, and the time off started closer to Thanksgiving than it did for soccer season. But by all means, lets keep paying team dues for no practice.
The coach was asked during a team meeting according to many parents who were there, where is your priority and he said always with ECNL teams..............so your wrong again, he left an ECNL game to coach his long time L'pool team. Yes, I was there, but things happen and if you're that uptight about this one time, then this coach isn't for you.
And last and best of all, your a new coach and you tell your entire new team to go look for other options, BUT that is not really what you mean? Are you serious? That is a joke. Give a coaches name that doesn't play mind games!! They all do.
But your right, winning will fix it all, right? This whole process is about winning? . Use the HUDL account and do your own recruiting. If you depend on one coach for college access, that's on you. I would hope you would be proactive instead of waiting for a coach to do all the recruiting for you.
Definitely winning isn't everything but it does help boost confidence in teammates. They have always been a great group of girls.
Again, wish him well just not the kind of coach many want in a very important time in their soccer career. The previous response was all you need to know......."yes I left the ECNL game to coach my L'pool team, but we still won the ECNL game and I was not there." So they won without you?

Re: DKSC ECNL/ECRL U18/19 Tryout Sessions
HUDL account........you think that gets you recruited? Man,you have no clue how this works. Certainly HUDL helps but College coaches get hundreds to thousands of emails and "hudl links" a year. The majority are not opened or viewed not out of any coaches non-interest but because of limited time and this thing called SPAM mail. Most of the emails they get are put into a database they use to invite kids to their college soccer camps.
Sounds like you have it all figured out and are confident this team is in an ideal place. I guess the
6-10 players leaving one of the teams this guys coaches means nothing in regards to the moral our confidence in the coach.
There were something like 26 ECNL roster players on one of his teams yet they had 13 players at their ECNL game this weekend. Do the math Einstein.
Don't discount he stated publicly in front of 125 or so parents/players that ONLY 1-2 players on his l'pool team have the talent to play ECNL......ask anybody who was there. How is that for vote of confidence from a coach who has coached you on a L'pool team for years.
In fact, I was told he sat in front of the whole group an argued with 2 different parents in the meeting about his hate for HS soccer and that kids should not play at all. And if they get injured playing HS soccer he has no mercy for them. In his defense, he did not grow up here and as a result has really no clue about the joy most kids have playing HS soccer. He just does not get it and said so defiantly in the meeting. Just beware of that!!!
No clue when and how often they practiced during HS season, but if your paying dues month to month, then maybe you should have not paid during the months you were not practicing. This is the same thing for every club and team during HS season (except DA).
What I can tell you as best I can count, I asked about 9 people (players parents and other L'pool coaches) about this coach and ALL 9 were unfavorable ranging from they would never play for him to he is downright not trustworthy. I could very well ask 9 more and they might say he is the greatest coach ever.........I have no idea what others think. I just know what I have learned and asked from others who have had direct experience with this coach.
I felt it would be appropriate to share this info with others given the time of the year. You can argue, defend and further illustrate your man crush on this coach, but the information is as it is and what I have been told. Everybody can make their own decisions on who they want to lead and coach their kids but be careful with what you are told and what you hear.
That was sole the intent of the message.

It’s your kid’s responsibility to make the connections with the college coaches. They have to call and email and yes, the coaches do read those emails and respond, depending on the level. D1 and D2 coaches can also talk directly to your coaches (high school and club) and often do so, from our experience.
That was ... until last Wednesday.

This coach never went school here being from outside the US, hates HS soccer, never went to college here, so naturally he is at a big disadvantage when it comes to the intricacies of high school and college soccer and the transition necessary to play college soccer. Most don't have confidence he can be a valuable middle man
in the recruiting process given his experience, limitations and complete lack of direct involvement in the high school and college process.
Just what I have been told.

Man crush? You're funny!! Your first line in the post stated the word 'factual' so are they facts or opinions?

HUDL is a tool given for you to use. It's up to you and your daughter to create the highlights and get those out there. Why do you think there was so much pressure to get them to the previous
coach prior to showcases? You know for a fact that emails would go to SPAM mail? What about ID camps? So many pathways to take to get into college..........
Sounds like you have it all figured out and are confident this team is in an ideal place. I guess the
6-10 players leaving one of the teams this guys coaches means nothing in regards to the moral our confidence in the coach.
I'm sorry, did you miss the shuffle of players at the beginning of the season? All the ECNL girls sent to D1? Why did the 6-10 (are you sure on that number?) leave? I can think of 5 that left due to play time issues and 1 who decided not to play in college-- under the old coach.
There were something like 26 ECNL roster players on one of his teams yet they had 13 players at their ECNL game this weekend. Do the math Einstein.
size=16]Well the ECNL website has 30 listed to be exact. Some went with old coach (dual rostered), some have left, and others are injured. Those were previous issues and not because AF has now taken over. [/size]
Don't discount he stated publicly in front of 125 or so parents/players that ONLY 1-2 players on his l'pool team have the talent to play ECNL......ask anybody who was there. How is that for vote of confidence from a coach who has coached you on a L'pool team for years.
I was there!! I heard everything he said, I also remember everything the old coach promised as well. Bottom line, this is a business and if you are to believe EVERYTHING that comes from most coaches mouths then that's on you. Take everything with a grain of salt.
OOOHHH!! You were TOLD! Now I get it you weren't there. I remember it going something like this... He doens't mind if your DD plays high school sports, but if your DD happens to get injured, that opens the door for someone else to step up. Are coaches supposed to hold your DD spot when another DD is wanting to play just as bad? I think the same thing would happen if the DD was injured in a club game. It's the reality of sports. It would happen in college as well.
No clue when and how often they practiced during HS season, but if your paying dues month to month, then maybe you should have not paid during the months you were not practicing. This is the same thing for every club and team during HS season (except DA).
So are you saying you don't pay your dues if your DD isn't practicing? Did you just admit that?
What I can tell you as best I can count, I asked about 9 people (players parents and other L'pool coaches) about this coach and ALL 9 were unfavorable ranging from they would never play for him to he is downright not trustworthy. I could very well ask 9 more and they might say he is the greatest coach ever.........I have no idea what others think. So because of what you heard, people aren't supposed to give change a chance. Sorry things didn't work out for you but no point in dragging others through the mud. One day your DD may end up playing with DFeeters. Wouldn't want to burn any bridges.
I felt it would be appropriate to share this info with others given the time of the year. You can argue, defend and further illustrate your man crush on this coach, but the information is as it is and what I have been told. There you go with the 'man crush' again. That's right, this time of year brings out the ugly in everyone vying for a spot on any team. We all do what we think is best for our DD, but for the most part, it's the DD decision and wanting to play where her friends are. You say be careful of what you hear so I suppose we should be cautious of what you are spouting off.
That was sole the intent of the message.

I was there!! I heard everything he said, I also remember everything the old coach promised as well. Bottom line, this is a business and if you are to believe EVERYTHING that comes from most coaches mouths then that's on you. Take everything with a grain of salt.
I just know what I have learned and asked from others who have had direct experience with this coach.
Everybody can make their own decisions on who they want to lead and coach their kids but be careful with what you are told and what you hear.

Surprised that this didn't get more publicity. This new round of rules appears to close some of the loopholes that were still present when the first set of changes went into affect last August. In theory, since there is now ZERO contact allowed before June 15th post-Sophomore year of HS, it would appear the new rules would prohibit any verbal offers being made prior to then, BUT the NCAA also states that verbal offers aren't legislated. I also couldn't find anything about grandfathering of any verbal offers that were given to HS Sophs or younger prior to the new rules taking affect on May 1, 2019. It will be interesting to follow TopDrawer to see if there is a sudden drop-off in 2021's/2022's announcing commitments, or if there was a rush of verbals that went out prior to May 1.
