Child playing club soccer and high school

Good morning -

I couldn't find information on this topic so I want to ask on the forum. My child plays club but will be a freshman and also wants to play school soccer. How does that work? I have heard in other states when school soccer is going on the club team stops playing. Is that the case here in TX or do both club and high school games and practice go on at the same time?

In general, club and HS soccer on the girl's side have figured out how to peacefully co-exist in NTX, for the most part with the exception of Girl's Development Academy (DA) teams at Solar, FC Dallas, and Texans.  If your kid isn't on one of those teams (I'm assuming from your "clueless" comment that she probably isn't), then don't worry about it.

Outside of the above-mentioned Girl's DA, the other competitive leagues in NTX (ECNL, LHGCL, PPL) generally take a break in scheduling games during HS season (Jan-Apr), though this is not 100% guaranteed, especially if there were a lot of rainouts in the fall schedule.

As far as the club coach backing off of practices during HS season, that's more of a coach-by-coach basis, but most back off to some degree, at least in intensity of club practices, if not also in frequency of club practices.  As far as if and when conflicts do arise, again, that's more of a coach-by-coach thing.  Sometimes there are repercussions when you have to choose one vs. the other, usually having to sit out part/all of upcoming game(s) if you miss one for the other, but such are the choices in life.

Just know that the there are hundreds of girls (maybe even more than that) in NTX that are playing both club and HS soccer, and majority are doing it without any major issues.
