ODP is dead Empty ODP is dead

Have had parents ask me about ODP so decided to share our experience with this program so far. ODP unfortunately is dead in NTX. You can see coaches picking kids that are on their club teams for the tournament despite not being the best players. You have big gap between the top player and bottom players in the ODP practices and they design the practices/drills around the bottom players. So many of the kids get bored.
We get no feedback or information in general. Have to be asking them when the next tournaments will be so we don’t schedule anything in case our boy gets picked. They are generally unresponsive. Then we travel to tournaments we get our butts kicked by the ODP teams from other areas....
Just have not been impressed at all with the quality of soccer nor the administration of this program in this region.
Would not recommend it to anyone.

My son has had quite the opposite experience. My goals for him coming in were
- additional outdoor training opportunities
- quality of competition in training
- quality of competition in competition
- exposure to different quality coaching / instruction

There were boys from most of the top D1 clubs at most every training.

The first S TX friendlies did not have classic league players due to rain-outs. I believe the non classic league kids that did attend would have made a top 10 D1 team. Although we did win some games, I do not believe that is the only objective at these competitions.

It was a fun, good experience outside the box for the overly structured league system. I am looking forward to next weekends North Texas friendlies and would recommend for any non-Pre DA player next year looking for additional training/competition with talented players.
