Leads me to believe size, speed and strength is still a priority rather than skill, technique, vision etc, at least in this country. Not good IMO
Yep, but the Federation sure does like to talk a good game.

I was with my doc , when couple of coaches approached him at showcase . Their only question to him were, can she run ??
Makes me believe , nothing will ever change here in US soccer

Heard the exact same..
Can she run?
Is she strong?
If yes to both, I guess monitoring their level of technical ability is a quick task then on to the next match.

U16-17s are phenomenal but these players are cream of dfw that ended up in one team.

Shame more youth competitive teams don't teach this style of soccer. We can see how it has continued to leave our men's game behind the best or rest of the world and how the women's game in other parts of the world is catching up..and it's only taken a few years of investment (playing the right way - saw it in France).

100% ... USSF talks a great game, but when push comes to shove, the same style of Race-Horses get promoted up the chain (generally speaking).
This is just my opinion, but i think it's more indicative of our society in general. Instant Gratification and Keepin' up with the Jones' ... we lack the patience for the actual investment and development of the kids. We're too busy ranking U9 Academy and playing politics to join the top team at U12 ... all under the "guise" of saying the right things about Development first, etc...

The easiest metric to look at development is a Win-Loss column ... but ... there is sooooo much more to that. I have ZERO dog in this fight/argument/discussion and no affiliations either ... but ... I have read up a little on AYSES philosophy and know a few people whose kids played for them ... they make no bones about the early days of not focusing on the results, focusing on the Technical foundation of their players, and they might be a punching-bag in a few games trying to play this way against the Man-Childs of U11-U13 haha!!! The PARENT is the paying customer (the kids aint writing the checks) ... can you convince the Parent in investing into the long-term development - or - is it more important to say you're on that Top 10 Team and traveling all the way to Colorado to crush their #1 State Team when you're #6 or #7 here in the Metroplex?

Straighttalk wrote:Solar doesn’t even follow the same philosophy in younger groups. Completely opposite from how solar u14s looked this weekend . Solar u14s have a lot of work to do. Too much boot ball and they have wasted one year under last years coach. IMO , putting 2 mediocre teams in 2 leagues won’t serve any purpose.

I agree with your opinion. He has been about successful at coaching as he has been dieting. Although he is nurturing his kid and and positioning her for great exposure.
Great dad, not so much a great coach.
With that being said....
Solar Colvin does pretty well with the Solar philosophy with his younger groups, ‘07s are great, 09’s do well and ‘10s are set to carry the torch so don’t let that u14 DA coach taint the process..after all, he is fresh from the Texans.
