Big mistake

What do you do if you just signed your contract and already realize that you made a big mistake with the chosen coach/team?

Do you happen to be with a big club?

With a big club but not a lot of good options in our age group

How in the world are things so off the tracks at this point in time?

I do believe you are just within the time frame that you might be able to back out of the contract. I would quickly be in contact with North Texas soccer to validate.

Definitely post your concerns for others that could be in a identical situation.

when will everyone realize that this is just a business? the coaches make money on it. they sell you to join. stop looking at the coaches and look at the kids and parents you will spend a year with. your kid just wants to play.

Don't believe that the situation will change from one season to the next. Most of these coaches are set in their ways.

exactly. most (not all- there are a few exceptions) will act like they care about your kid. see what happens when your kid leaves. they need that paycheck.

No warning signs or concerns came up in your due diligence (prior to signing) on the coach and their history?

What did they do that was so unexpected?

knew the coach already. had issues in the past but thought that they were misunderstandings and wouldn't be repeated. certain behaviors make absolutely no sense.

North Texas Soccer will advise you to request the coach or manager that the team does not register your player If he has registered your player and you request a release, he should be able to grant it. If he or she does not, NTSSA will set up a hearing and will eventually release your player. Just had a similar situation with a player from another team.

North Texas has no authority with respect to contracts, only rosters.

If your player has already been registered to the team, the only way off the roster is a coach-signed release. If you desire to sign with other team, it has to be a “transfer release”, which the coach may refuse to sign. Appeals only allowed in a window of time beginning December 1. If coach won’t agree to a transfer, only way out is a “release to rec”, which allows playing in a rec league or practicing and guest playing in tournaments with another competitive team.

Even if the coach signs the transfer release, the club may not release you from your contract.

I am not aware of a situation where a competitive player is dropped from roster before first game ( is this the case?) without the burden of a release. Anyone?

What if the registration was only US Club, not US Soccer?

I love the bottle rocket popsicles those are my favorite from the ice cream man.

Also depends on your criteria of a 'good option(what we want)' and what teams consider 'good options' as far as available players.
