Playing Up Empty Playing Up

Several '09 teams playing up to '08 girls classic, so playing 11 v 11. On the other hand, I am sure a ton of '08 talent is now in ECNL/ECRL so who knows what will happen?

Yeah don’t recommend it for the Uber talented 09s. They should probably be trying to get into an ECNL 08 or ECRL 08 roster. Just my 2 cents

If last year is any indication, the top 09 squads will run rampant. Last year the top 10 or so 07 teams all left LH for the DA/ECNL platforms. The top teams a year younger (08s) dominated what remained. I imagine the same thing will happen again this year. And the following year.

Are you saying 09 teams shouldn't play up?? Instead the talented 09 girls should be playing on an 08 ECNL or ECRL team, if so why?

Playing up in watered down league as all the talent in the 08 age bracket is playing ecnl or ecrl is a waste in my opinion. They are better off playing their own age the year before going on to ecnl is In Their best interest if they are not talented enough to play up on and 08 ecnl or ecrl team.

I disagree. There are not that many 09's playing EC-something, except entire Voutier team, so better 09's and their teams will get better competition, and 11 v 11 work, by playing up to GCL 08.

I think ERCL 08s and ECNL 08 players are better overall than the 08s left in the classic league in the u13 division. I am not saying the teams left in the classic league aren't any good either. From our experience the top 08s have better stamina, fitness and they think faster.

I think the premise is that if a top 09 can play for an 08 ECNL team, they should explore doing so. If they can't (or would prefer to not play up), a very good 09 team is likely to get better competition in a small league with other top 09 teams than they would playing up against the 08 teams still left in LH (or any local 08 league that isn't ECNL or ECRL), as the 09 teams will likely dominate U13 LH. I would argue that there can be a benefit to playing 11v11 for advanced players and teams, though.

Well i know my daughter is learning a lot playing up with an ECNL team. Speed of game is faster, stronger girls and they are mentally more mature. Its a work in progress, but ultimately I think that was the right decision for our daughter.

FCD Lovegrove is alo playing up as an 09 team. They are playing 08 ECRL.
