Tryouts Timeline

Can anyone help me understand when tryouts start? I am seeing some clubs starting tryouts on May 1st and some after May 9th. What is the difference? When can we officially go to tryouts outside of our current club?

Ecnl can start May 1. Other teams I believe are supposed to wait until after state cup

Depends on whether the team is registered with the Federation (through N. Texas) or US Club.

Ok so if it’s an ECNL or a US club team you are trying out for it can start May 1 but if it’s a GCL team you are tying out for you have to wait until after state cup
Which ends May 9th, correct?

If you're on an NTSSA registered team- can you try out for an ECNL team starting May 1st?

I believe so because it’s sanctioned by a different governing body you can is what I’ve heard

Just received the below email for anyone that had this question.

This email if for U11 and up competitive NTSSA registered teams and clubs:

NTSSA Competitive Coaches, managers, and Admins,

Players may attend open practices starting AFTER May 15th.

They are not to hold any open practices or tryouts prior to that date.

If a player wants to practice with another team prior to May 15th, they need written permission from their head coach. Letter must be signed and dated by coach. Coach and parent both keep a copy.

Players are still required to have the head coach sign any guest player forms through June 30th. They can sign with a new comp team on July 1st or later.
