After analyzing all of the schools in the country, I have found that this list is extremely accurate. I think a list like this is insane but I do like the fact that our team is #9.

Maybe it is just me but does it strike anyone else that when you see club rankings published Ntx will have one or two clubs/teams in the top 10: here when it is HS we have 5 of the top 10, yet the "club leagues seem to want to the players to play only club...

Well, I guess we'll see where my dd's team stands....
Next 10 days, games vs. #3, #4, #9, #19 and #28.

As a side note, I think these standings are based solely on the states that have a winter season. Note the limited states represented.

No kidding. There should be an "*" at the bottom that says "Brought to you in part by the Texas and California Public School Athletic Boards"

The winter season includes the following states: Arizona, California (winter), Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada and Texas.

The Texas state rankings as of Jan 2nd are:

Interesting about the Texas Rankings. All the schools are listed are 5A (except Ursuline) so where is Wakeland who won 4A state last season? Some of the other teams that played in the playoffs and did quite well in the 4A region. Of do only 5A schools get considered?

Watch out for Grapevine! This is their year.

We played (Southlake) in a round robin scrimmage with you and Flower Mound last Friday and if it wasnt for your goalie the score would have been 5-0 in the Flower Mound game.

You guys better get her some help or it will be a long season, but that keeper can play and I believe she is a freshman.

Maybe their intent was to show off their keeper so they backed off on defense a little. Now all the teams know the shots must be spot on to score which makes it even more difficult to have an accurate shot

All teams are considered. There will be some 4a teams ranked once the season starts.

How do they come up with the list? I certainly agree with some ... but? TAAPS does have 5a with 3 divisions. Right now the Div 1 Dist 1 rankings are: 1. Ursuline, 2. Bishop Lynch 3. Plano John Paul II 4. Nolan 5 Addison Trinity Christian 5. Plano Prestonwood 6. Argyle Liberty Christian and 7. Bishop Dunne.

Dist 2 is 1. San Antonio Antonian 2. Austin St. Michale 3. San Antonio Incarnate Word 4. San Antonio St. Anthony 5. Victoria St. Joseph and 6. San Antonio Holy Cross.

Dist 3 is 1. Houston St. Agnes 2. Houston Christian School, 3 Houston Duchesne 4. Beaumont Kelly 5. Houston St. Pius X and 6. Houston Incarnate Word.

Hockaday plays in the Southwest Preparatory Conference. The north zone consists of Ft. Worth County Day, Greenhill, ESD, Hockaday and Arlington Oakridge. The south zone consists of Houston Kinkaid, Ft. Worth All Saints, Austin St. Andrews, Houston St.Johns, San Antonio St. Mary's Hall, The Woodlands John Cooper, Bellair Episcopal, and Austin St. Stephens.

Yes, I think the #1 HS team in the cournty may be out of Ohio? It is not from the south.

I'm sure the list is based on last year's finish and taking a look at girls that graduated. As are all pre-season rankings they're probably just a semi-educated guess. A little odd that Wakeland didn't get more love.

Flower Mound, my dd's school (not nationally ranked, not in Texas top 20 & look to be picked, no better than 5th in their own district), has already scrimmaged 3 of the teams in the national list. I realize scrimmages are scrimmages....but was pleased with results. Tied #9 Southlake 1-1, tied #28 Grapevine 0-0 and beat #3 Coppell 1-0. Note: Southlake & Grapevine games were part of a round-robin and each game was only 40-45 min long, the Coppell game, last night, was regulation length).

I suspect the Nolan tourney (Natl Elite Prep Showcase) this weekend will provide more clarity and lead to some reshuffling. Marcus made a pretty fast climb last season after not starting out very high. Maggie Maggie, F Mound plays B Lynch this weekend, maybe one of 'em will show well and break out.

SR - looks like we play y'all at 2 pm. Hope its not too cold but is supposed to be. The fields at Gateway don't look too bad at first glance. They are like thin carpet over concrete. They play fast, are hard on field players, and just about kill keeps if they make a big dive. Today, all the BL girls seem to be back from injuries and stomach bug seems to have run out last week. BL plays JPII tonight. Weather just bad enough to be miserable but probably not enough to cancel. Important game for both of us so expect both sides to be very determined. See you on the pitch.

It is hard to compare teams at this time of year. The out of state schools and TX privates have been playing soccer for a month and are in the middle of their season. The TX publics are just getting out of the gate. I would expect a good team with 15 games under their belt to beat a good team playing their first couple of games. These rankings are just for talk but it is too bad that the rankings could be effected by this advantage.

That being said, I look forward to some good games and no injuries. Maybe even the weather will warm up so the girls don't have to break the ice in the water bottles just to get a drink.
