I'm not sure why this was headline worthy? AHFC is ahead of Lonestar in the u16 standings anyway....

my dd's team beat Lonestar 1-0 this Fall, and we're below them in the standings, now that seems more likely to have been news.

Agreed. My DD's team beat them 1-0 in the Texas Cup, and we are a LHCGL DIII team.

Congrats on the win, but the Lonestar ECNL team was not in the Texas Cup. You beat a different Lonestar team than the one mentioned in the link above.
