Solar Chelsea appears to be headed for the 02 age group since they are almost entirely 02's already.

FCD Elite -- Was announced to team in the Fall that coach LW would be coaching the top '03 and '04 AP FCD teams next year. So in reality team is not moving forward and all Elite players are "free agents" come this Summer. FCD's Player Development Program has been conducting monthly sessions with FCD 01, 02, 03, 04, and 05 players to begin building AP teams for next year.

It is nice to see that there are big clubs out there who appear to have a plan and are actually communicating with coaches and parents. The ones that aren't saying anything are a shameful joke, in my most humble opinion.

In my opinion, it shouldn't matter if its a Big Club, Small Club, or Independent. If they have not relayed a clear message to the team as to what their plans are for next season by now, then that is a "shameful joke". Those teams will lose players.

Based on the board feedback, that would be Sting(s), Feet and DT. DTS is an independent entity of its own and marches to its own drumbeat. Nice to see they, along with some others, have a plan.TatonkaBurger wrote:MiddleFinger wrote:

Can't speak for the entire club, by my DD is at Sting and her coaches communicated a very clear plan to the parents back in October as to how they were going to handle the AP transition with their teams across multiple age groups, spanning '99's-'02's, and have given no indication that they are going to deviate from that plan.

Curious, did that plan include what coaches would take what teams in any given age group?

Like I said, I can't speak for the entire club. The same 2 coaches co-coach the top USYSA Sting Dallas team in each age group from '98-'02. They informed those teams back in October that they intended to re-align the rosters to AP this coming summer. They did not say what Sting ECNL, other Sting Dallas teams that they don't coach, or other Sting divisions (Central, North, East, West) would be doing, so I won't comment on that. They also did not say what the '03's would be doing, but I would be shocked if Sting Dallas didn't realign their top '03-'06 teams to AP as well this summer. Just like I'd be shocked if Texans, Texans South, Solar, FCD, and D'Feeters didn't realign their top teams (ECNL and USYSA) to AP across all age groups this summer as well.

What a mess
A question though ... wouldn't the "N+1" rule limit the amount of player pooling in order to maintain the bye regardless if playing as an '03 or '02 team? As an example, for Sting to maintain their 5+ byes into D1, D2 or D3 then can they really pool without forcing their '03s to play up into the '02 age-pure?
What we know from mid/small/Indy/stand-alone:
Solar Chelsea -- stay together as '02s
DT South -- staying down in 03 division
FTWFC -- stay together as '02s
Andromeda -- ??
Cosmos -- ??
D'Feeters -- ??
Texas Spirit -- ??
Mutiny -- ??
Sparta -- stay together as '02s
Odyssey -- stay together as '02s
Sting East (Dunstan) -- staying down in 03 division. 14/17 on current roster are 03s
Mustangs -- stay together as '02s (splitting into two teams. Both 02s & 03s will have LHGCL bye)
Triumph -- stay together as '02s
Liverpool -- staying down in 03 division. Current 02s on the team moving over to LP Owen 02
Cruz Azul -- ??

Exactly, that's why the large clubs will move to primarily AP in all age groups with most of their DI teams. They will have a bye in each age group so it doesn't matter which direction the bye goes. Parents get hung up on which bye their child will play under.
Now the small clubs are the ones having to make really hard decisions because they don't have byes in all age groups. If they are a top level team in their current group then they can probably stay together and move up. But if they are struggling today then they will want to stay in the lower age group but then you are cutting lose a handful of players that may not have another club team in the older age group. They may have 2 or 3 ages groups that can go one way or another but either the oldest team or younger team will feel they were cheated by the club.
At the end of the day all teams will change, some more than others. Stop worrying about your current FBR, Gotsoccer or Youth Soccer Rankings. By this time next year it will settle out and then you can start bragging about who is the latest greatest team ever that is about to change clubs for ECNL or DA.

It is my understanding that the 05s will be playing 11v11 next year and only the 06s will be 9v9. Did this change ?
