Urgent Prayer Request

Soccer Family,

I am putting this on the forum as I am seeking as many prayers as possible. Please feel free and to copy and paste this if you would like to help by working your prayer chains.

Today I learned on the way to my 01s game that my 9 month old nephew was the victim of accidental drowning. My sister called me while we were in the car on the way to UTD and they were following behind the ambulance on the way to the hospital in Abilene. They are not sure how long he was under and I still don't have the details to how the accident happened. He did cry at some point when the EMTs were at the house, but they intubated him as he had water in the lungs. Since being in the hospital his tube did come out at some point and his heart stopped. He is currently on Life Support and they are keeping him cold for 24 hours. They have told my sister the next few days they will know how he will be. My sister and her Air Force husband have 3 other little boys at home and their church family and military family are helping them. I ask you to help them as well with your prayers.

Recently a friend of mine had a similar insistent with her son, and the same protocol was followed. After 3 days of uncertainty he made a rapid recovery and was home in a week. I will pray for the same outcome for your nephew. Miracles happen everyday. Please stay strong and continue to have faith. We will all be praying.

We just got home from picking my sister up at Cook's Children's hospital in Ft. Worth. They airlifted him today and he has been on cooling blanket. He has shown some positive signs including eyes dilating to light, he opened his eyes a little bit in response to nose swab. He twitched his little leg when I rubbed on it and told him how much Aunt A loves him. He is also taking breaths on his own besides the 30 that the vent gives him. They have him on paralytics in order to keep him from shivering and raising his body temperature as the goal right now is to keep brain swelling from occurring. Please just continue to lift him up.

The Dr. came in this morning and seems much more optimistic today. He told my brother-in-law that he has seen children much worse come through fine. We are clinging to this. They will start warming him this afternoon and the risk for seizure will become greater. So far he has not had any and I ask you all to pray that he will not backslide as they warm him. Please also pray for strength for my sister and her husband and that they would rest some and be able to eat.
