CONGRATULATIONS to the tournament winners this weekend!
Shawnee Trail Shootout:
Sting Parker- Sting Goodman beat Sting P in pool play, but Sting Parker came through when it counted most to take the top spot - well done Parker!
Legends Invitational:
RASE 04- Very competitive division, but this team proves that the possession game outweighs size and speed. Great job R04!
Soccerfest:
FC Dallas Premier- FCD dominated pool play with a perfect 30pts and capped off the semis and finals with resolve.
Lake Granbury Classic:
Galaxy 03- Galaxy goes undefeated to take the LGC.
Other commentary?

Anyone know if the Sting Goodman/DT Moreno Semi-final was decided in regulation, OT, or PK's?

Hats off to Sting Goodman. In a span of a few hours:
they played their final pool game vs Sting P,
a semi v. DTM + 20 min of OT
Then the final v. Sting P + 20 min of OT + PK

It was a physical, competitive game and the refs were letting the girls play. Those two combinations usually lead to fireworks on the sidelines. Hats off to both teams. I'll leave it at that.

DazednConfused wrote:I wouldn't call FCD Premier win over Sting West 03 "with resolve". This was a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation and a no one scored in a 20 minute OT period. FCD won PKs 3-2. This was a very evenly played match with no real advantage in possession except for the team that happened to be playing with the wind. Kudos to GSSA for making both of these teams play 3 games on Saturday while the GSSC (and most other) teams got to play one each on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Despite the best efforts to the contrary, the best 2 teams played in the final.
Maybe you should consult dictionary.com for the definition of resolve. Here, I'll help with a synonym, "with determination". We could say about Sting D played with resolve as well if that makes you feel better.

Kudos to those 9-10 year old girls who battled it out all day but still managed to keep up the intensity in overtime. Very long day all around.
Congrats to all the Sting teams represented in the Final game. Goodman/Parker/Gutierrez/Mendoza...
Did I miss anyone?

So glad to hear that credit is being given where credit is due. Heard that Sting G/Hilton players got lots of play time on Parker this weekend. Is that true? If so, bummer for the rostered players that sat on the bench. Typical MO for Sting G to not use bench at all... Disappointing to see it filter down to Parker.

Re: CONGRATULATIONS to the tournament winners this weekend!
Her DD was a regular rostered player on the team, Coach G did not have her player numbers correct & brought in too many ECNL players to beef-up her team.
Neighbors words,
“Coach G asks for my DDs uniform, my DD gives Coach G her uniform & in turn she turns around and hands it to the other player and says we will not be needing you this weekend!”
As a result this 13 year old child is so heartbroken that she is most likely leaving soccer altogether.
Pretty heartless IMHO!!!
LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK ON HOW YOU WOULD DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION???

That is sad... unfortunately I cant say that surprises me anymore in NTX Soccer as these stories have become too common.
For me, it's a no brainer, when coach shows that type of overt behaviour... its time to find a new place where the DD is appreciated. Period.
Is this the same coach refusing to grant releases to players already planning on leaving her team at the end of season to guest play ?
Note - For those going Select for the first time, know that the NTX Soccer contracts you are about to sign are written very much in favor of clubs/coaches with little to no protection to the consumer - parent/player. My advise is to thoroughly research the coach's history and MO, as behaviour tends to repeat itself. Otherwise plan on paying your $3K+ dues and dont expect much long term comittment to your DD, her development or well being.
Especially on a 'top' team where winning trumps all and any fall off in 'high level' play can be swiftly met with ruthless neglect.
One coach no longer affiliated with big clubs put it well when he said: " you are essentially 'Paying for abuse'. "
Good luck and buyer beware...

I would say parents need to step up and have a backbone. There is no way I would have given a uniform that I payed for to the coach or the other player. But parents are so affraid that the coach will cut my kid or not play them. I would have been looking for a team for next season but for the state cup it would have taken him giving my $3k+ back to get that jersey. It's not so much the coaches fault for being a a$5hole but the parents fault for being week and allowing it to happen. Teach your kids to stand up for themselves and be there to fight for them

"A team isn't a bunch of kids out to win.
A team is something you belong to.
Something you feel.
Something you have to earn."
Well, in North Texas it is ' a bunch of kids out to win'
At least it is with the big clubs.
Congrats to the Mustangs 99G for winning State Cup the right way....with the same group of girls that 'got them to the dance'.
