Break Time Empty Break Time

Post by nukem 04/07/13, 09:34 am

I wish all the teams good luck this year. My DD decided to hang up her gloves and focus on cheerleading and school sports (at least soccer is one of them). We appreciate all of the good times, memories and spirited conversations on this site.

If anyone finds themselves in the need of a keeper for the Dec-Jan tournaments or the second half of the season, drop me a note. She has already said she will probably want to start playing again after she "figures out 7th grade".

Good luck and God bless.

Dang it Nuke! That leaves one less poster that understands my humor. I think that leaves... one...

Seriously though, best of luck to you and your DD in whatever she decides to do!

Best wishes to your DD and fam Nukem. She'll have just as much fun playing with her friends at school, and the club craziness will still be here if she decides to get back in it. Good luck!

Bummer. Good luck to you and your DD. She was (and still is) a great keeper and competitor. We always enjoyed playing Solar White (and sometimes Navy) and playing against her. You will be missed.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Since most of Solar White are now spread across D1 teams, we will make it out to a few games this year. My dd has already said she will want to see Sting North (formerly TFC) and Feet and Bates and Feet play this year.

Take care and have a safe summer

There must be one heck of a story for a long term, accomplished team to suddenly break up like that. Really unfortunate.

Where did the bulk of the players for the new Solar White come from if not Solar Navy? That is a lot of new kids to recruit rather than going to the existing well.

No exciting story. Just time to move on. Coach E has taught the girls a lot and he has been a dedicated and positive influence in our girls lives for the past 5 or so years.

No idea about the make up of the new team.

Before we left, 3 Navy players were invited to join the White team. My dd told me a couple days ago that one of them signed with DTFW, I am not sure if the other two signed or not but I assume they did. There were several girls from various places practicing with the White team before we left in early June. I do not know if other Navy players were invited or not but I do know the Navy team made.

Exactly what I have heard. Nothing but positive comments about Guim--excellent coach. Some girls just ready for new voice, as they all say

It is quite possible. I eventually did this when I was a player. I enjoyed the coach I play for, played for him 5 years never even considered leaving in that 5 years. Eventually a time came when I needed a change of scenery it was just time for a new opportunity. I stayed with this team through a season we only had 10 players. No drama with previous team I played for, but was time for new opportunity elsewhere it worked out great. Sometimes it is time for a new voice. I did this when it came to keeper training as well. I trained with a few different coaches. At times was nice to have that different coaches voice.

It wasn't a mass exodus or big revolt. More like a few left at a time for various reasons. Some wanted to tryout for DI squads and succeeded (Congrats to them. Smile) Some, like nukem's DD, left for school related sports/activities. A couple moved out of state. Some decided to go play with friends on other teams. Fortunately, there were several players already guest playing and practicing with White by the end of May to offset the initial losses. And as luck would have it, gobs of players came out the first two weeks of open practices. One from last year's roster stayed. Three Navy players moved up to White. The remainder came from teams all over, most of whom played in LH last year.

So honestly, no real drama much to the credit of Coach E.

Well, the good news is that Solar White now has a clean slate of parents.  The previous group included some of the loudest and most obnoxious parents around, and that is saying something.  Twisted Evil
