I'm not seeing it. There is still a considerable amount of ice all over my yards on the SW side of the metro. With temps not getting very high, the thaw will be slow and even if the ice is gone, the fields will prob be very wet. Not sure what the park owners policies are about playing on wet fields.

Is there still much ice on the grass one the NE side?

Allen area the grass is still covered in ice. Couple sunny days will help... 50% chance of rain on Friday sure won't...

if its up to the players, coaches, families and the club it will play...unfortunately it is up to the cities so lets hope government does the right thing... ugh !!!  Wink

DD really wants to play this weekend, so I'll give it an "optimistic" 50/50 chance.

There's a small tournament on the southern fringe of the metroplex that might play based on this statement from their website.  Will be interesting if they follow through...


"Cancellations will be only be considered if travel to and from the tournament is determined to be unsafe. Cancellations due to cold, wet or icy conditions on the field are unlikely. Dress yourselves and your players appropriately!"

oh nevermind... just got an e-mail stating the tournament I referenced previously has just been cancelled. PLEASE NOTE, I'm not talking about the Liverpool Red White and Blue cup--maybe they'll get to play. As for me, I get another weekend to chill  cheers

Texas Holiday Classic in Cleburne.

They communicated a good point in their cancellation notice--even if they're willing to open the fields when very soft/wet, when will the cities get a chance to paint the fields with the slow thaw and the expected rain on Friday.

Frustrating that Cleburne cancelled the tournament.
It was looking like a good one.

Stopped by The Cox fields today to see how they looked. They looked really good I was surprised. A little squishy in the goal area but that’s it. Had a fresh coat of paint on the lines and all the pole lights were on like they were testing them.

So all games are at COX?

Great news if we all play at COX.

I think we are going to get some rain though, and CFBSA usually does shut down if there are puddles. It isn't worth it to ruin beautiful game fields for one small tournament, right?

Postpone it until January.

The City of Carrollton has reluctantly closed the fields for this weekend, so we will unfortunately be cancelling America's Red White & Blue Cup. We had really hoped to get this one in and appreciate each of you for registering for our tournament. Information will be provided by tomorrow regarding refunds.
