Fall Premier Cup (Prev the Xara Fall Classic) U12 Team List

On behalf of the Greater Lewisville Area Soccer Association (GLASA), we welcome you to participate in the 2014 Fall Premier Cup. Our tournament is for boys and girls teams in the following divisions: U5-U19 Recreational, U7-U10 Academy, and U11-U19 Competitive.

The tournament will take place Friday, November 7th, throu gh Sunday, November 9th. Out-of-town teams will NOT be required to play on Friday.

Really? Dont think anybody cares or that its a big woop how 04 D1 classic teams can beat up on 03 ppl teams. Go Bragg or cheer them on in the 04 forum. Something impressive would be for the 04 classic teams to beat up on 03 classic teams. Major fail on the tournament.

Not sure if it was a major fail. We placed the 04 teams in the Gold Division with the highest ranked 03 teams we had registered. We would have loved to had some 03 LHGCL teams.

Ain't got a dog in this fight but seems to me it just ain't right to put lhgcl d1 teams vs premier teams at any age group unless maybe their d3 classic. You had a good mix of 04 classic teams in the 04 group that would have been better competition for them. In the interest of fair play - and maybe repeat future business, for future 03 teams - this could keep them away, although, you did list teams accepted. For some teams, doing tournaments is about playing competition of similiar strength and having a good experience, for others they wanna play tougher teams to see how they compare and where they can improve. Blowouts shouldn't factor into results and you had 2. Most premier teams you had in both brackets are teams not even close to classic level and strenght. Must have been something, to hear for almost an hour, all the oohs, aahs, and lets not forget the loudass dad that always obnoxiously yells "yea!" like a drunk at choctaw casino, at each goal during the blowout even though the team is up 4-0. That should have teams beggin to come back for your next tourney.

Okay maybe you don't go to alot of tournaments but it is fairly standard to play the top teams up an age group and I do think you are wrong. The teams in the 04 brackets would not have beat the teams in the 03 brackets so infact would not have been better competition. It is often a sense of pride for a PPL team to take down a CL team and show that the CL label does not guarantee you a win. right choice by the TD. And as far as the teams go they are what they are and the TD has little control of that. I will say my dd's team has played a lot of 03 CL teams and I saw a number of girls who are very much CL level. I think it was spirit 03 who had a girl who very well may have been player of the tournament. Absolutely fantastic player to watch and would definitely been among the tops of the age group.

Okay go99 - so yea i go to and have seen my fair share of tournaments, in various age groups, and while you are correct in saying that it often may happen that a younger top team may play up a division - i have never seen CL D1 teams in the same bracket as PPL D2 and below teams.

My reference to the 04 teams being "better competition" was in regards to the D1 04s playing the other CL 04s in their respective 04 divisions. The competition was broader within that group having some 04 D2 and D3 CL teams in the mix, which were probably stronger than the D2 PPL 03s and this would have been better competition for the D1 04s.

I agree that any underdog cherishes a win or tie over higher ranked opponents, but really? It used to be when there was a mismatch, an effort was made by the coaches and tournament director to balance a tournament bracket with the best matched talent.

I disagree with you about the TD not having control - this is his job man - In this case both 04 coaches should have told the TD that they would have better competition in the 04 gold group and requested to be moved into that bracket. The TD should have contacted the lowest ranked 04 Classic teams in the 04 group, and asked them if they wanted to play PPL teams for a better balance. This is what happened and worked in past GLASA tourneys.

Alot of teams have a few standout players, but you know it's the team that makes the competition, not 1 or 2 players - sorry 10-0 and 7-0 blowouts in my book are fails and trying to justify it after the fact, only perpetuates a lack of assuming responsibility for what could have been prevented in the beginning. Granted, no one can know what the outcomes will be - until its too late, but what i am saying is that was preventable.  How proud those D1 CL team coaches and the team parents must have been, during the blowout, and after the game knowing they beat up on PPL teams out of their league.

My point is, and this may seem trivial, but this is something the TD and coaches should consider when schedules come out for tournaments. Otherwise, when a competitive or academy bracket doesn't make - why not just throw in any rec teams registered into the same bracket so the group can make. Please. Competitive Balance, Fair Play, and a Positive Tournament experience should be the priority across all age groups and this is the job of the TD.

the only solution would have been for the team to not play at all that weekend. It was not a sense of pride or anything else. It was the weekend the coach had open to play a tournament so we were put in it. And just like your team we played who was infront of us. The TD took the mix of teams that were infront of him and put together the best groups he felt possible. Play those teams into the 04's and then if there were blowouts you would just have another set of complaints about they should have been played up. There are times when there is just disparity among the teams that signed up. Somebody is always unhappy and hindsight is always the best technique when putting together brackets. But it was just a tournament and just a tiny window into the girls soccer. Some win, some lose and in the end the only people who will remeber and it even matter too are the parents.

Go99 - i hear what you're saying and agree - hindsight is 20/20 and you can only play the cards that were delt to you. Sorry, don't buy, the "this was the only week we could do a tourney" NTFC this weekend shows a good group of CL 03's, but it was preferred to do PPL instead? Odds were high enough to guarantee a finalist spot, and that's what most teams want right? to be in the finals and the opportunity to be crowned CHAMPION.

In this case, I'm just saying "the TD could've balanced the teams differently". I could care less about the blowouts in this tournament, and as i stated earlier, i got no dog nor team in this fight, my thought is team competitiveness and balance across the board for a well run tournament.
Kinda how Fever 02 Red played up with the 00's at Soccer Fest back in May.

The intent was to provide constructive criticism and feedback about the tourney, so the TD could improve it next go round.

proP? nobody crying, just having a debate about observations, but its funny how you create a new ID and make this your first post. So, if this is you're first post, stick around you'll get your fill of CL parents whining across the forum about team mismatches, and other useless dialog about how they are so great and any other leagues like APL or PPL dont matter. This is about TD's doing well balanced tourneys across all age groups.
