How do we as parents prepare for Select next year?
Any advice?
Suggestions?

New to all this, any advice greatly appreciated.

Just stay calm. The coach should start preparing the parents for it soon. Lots of conversations.

I would say if your team plans on attending the qualification matches and/or seasons for Lake Highlands that you start saving now. If you are doing Plano then you might be able to hold off a month or two and then start saving. :-)

Yeah I know Solar and Texans have arrangements where you can work at AAC for example and the funds go into an account that can be applied to pay for soccer expenses. Others may have similar setups.

What are thoughts on jockeying for position? Example being if your daughter is currently kind of riding the fence of being in/out, should moves be made now to a different team/club so you aren't scrambling in the summer? Or is there plenty of time to find out whether you make a team then move if you don't???

Teams are "almost" set by June. You will see some movement...but not like entire squads! But of course, coaches are always holding 1 spot open...for that superstar.

I would start "testing the waters" this fall and join a team in the Spring.....that is.....if you were to start looking.

Different people have different goals and objectives for their select soccer experience that can influence the decision.

They can vary from wanting to play on a team with her friends, to getting good enough to play in HS, to getting a full ride in college.

Our experience is that unless the DD is part of the regular playing rotation, getting more than 50% playing time and contributing to the outcome of the game, the enjoyment for the DD wears off fairly quickly.
