Two Asian teams (Korea and Japan) got into the final for the U17 world cup, Japan was also the champ for last time. What's wrong with US? I thought we are the best, are we?

well if they were not our best then there is something wrong with US soccer. It was the world cup. If you aren't using your best there what are you saving them for? GTFO

Unfortunately Go, it would be almost impossible to Identify the 23 best 15-16 year olds in a Country of 300 million if we were good at it. Fact is, we suck at Identification in America.

Okay then the answer was identification is the problem not nothing wrong we chose not to send our best. Oh and your math is flawed in the basic theory. The larger pool doesn't make it harder to find the best players it gives you a bigger choice of top players to choose from. Our numbers playing aren't a weakness its a strength.

so looks like we can make you down for poor scouting and identification. You're welcome.

I thought the question being asked was 'Are we (USA) the best at U17 soccer?'  

Given the team was eliminated, the question if we ID and send our best to these tournaments is probably a more relevant question.

Lot's of possible reasons for not winning:
. They could have just been focused on development of the players vs the outcome of the games Razz
. Benefits of age pure have not have time to take hold yet Razz

US Soccer is rotten to the core with politics. There is no place for politics in sport. Until the sportsmen can run the politicians out of US Soccer, it's all just a bunch of jaw-jacking.

Maybe it isn't the best 15-18 that always matters. It's the best 11 that play well together.

It is really frustrated to see the US U20 team lost again in the world cup.

Now Asians dominate the youth soccer? North Korea? I don't understand.

Nah.  Couldn't be that we continue to focus on picking the 11 best individuals, but get beat by much better TEAMS, with less individual talent.

Haha, you guys are still high for just one tournament success? While it was just a showcase tournament, everyone else focus on developing, only you guys are still enjoying the result.

Oh, may I ask if this was the only tournament win for the past year? Did you get the hardware? LOL.

These weren't kids. These were mostly college women, some of which were Juniors.

Not to say this wasn't the best team we could have put out there, but there were a number of college players who chose not to participate in this due to the fact that they were being forced to redshirt this year of college soccer.

Go read the report, apparently it was pretty easy to discern what went wrong. Killed in the middle and couldn't play long (or wide) with success. Hard to out-athlete a team when you can't get the ball.
