Advice needed

I am the coach of a U19 coed team in a small association. In our division u19 encompasses 2003-1998. I would like form a team of the older girls to play a few tournaments in the dfw but I don't want to keep them from playing on their existing rec team. I know you can't play both rec and competitive at the same time. Would that apply only to a tournament team?

Is this even possible?
