Mike was a dad/volunteer of 3 young soccer players in CFBSA who died way too early. The tournament originally was run by CFBSA to benefit the 3 kids.

At one point, the tournament was taken over by Magic Soccer Club which later merged with Dallas Inter and became FCD. They have retained the name.
