Girls playing up? Need your help.

Daughter is an 05. Been playing 04 the last year. She's on the smaller side. Worried about the girls at this age hitting puberty and getting bigger and stronger. Should she be brought back down to her age group? She's not afraid, she's a pretty good player, but worried about her getting hurt against bigger players at this age and keeping up. Your opinion and past experience is appreciated.

Do your best to keep her in her grade...meaning select eligibility expires same year a senior.

Play her age pure. At some point in the near future she'll be overlooked because of her size.

Unless she dominates, playing up is just your ego in the way of her joy.

I would rather play at her age group (05 in your case). No need to play up unless she is a very strong. Otherwise give her the best opportunity to succeed in her age group. If she needs better competition then play in a higher level 05 league.
But everyone needs to assess their own situation. If your child plays just for fun and wants to play her with close friends then continue to play up.

Play her age. No question. If you are afraid that she will get her by girls that are bigger and hitting puberty, then it suggests she is smaller. That is good that she is not afraid but it does not matter. Play her age and get her on the best team that she can make with the best coaching. She will be better for it and you will be glad you did it too.

Based on my experience continue playing up if she can, especially now that she's used to it. Continuity is important and if the coach supports it do it. Size in soccer is a factor but not decisive (my opinion). Messi is small, Ronaldo isn't. So now you have two opposite opinions :-)
