JDL Questions

My kid is a 2007, so naturally, this is our first year in select. It sounds like there is a lot to take in as far as changes from academy soccer go. Is this whole JDL thing something that I should be considering/pursuing before we sign with a club? I've seen a few clubs promote it on here (Sting West 07, Dallas Texans 07), but I'm just not clear on how it benefits the player. I just want to make a good choice. Some perspective from anyone with JDL experience or knowledge would be great. Thanks.

IMO, the only thing you get is possibly better league competition, as JDL typically consists of the top 2 teams from the Defeeters, FCD, Solar, Sting and Texans (the 5 local ECNL Clubs). Unless you are playing in both Classic League and JDL, your league play is limited to just those 9 teams (2 from each club, including your dd's JDL team would represent)
You also have the opportunity to play non JDL teams during tournaments.

Get your DD with a good coach and girls she enjoys playing with. As long as you are with a big club the opportunities to get exposure to the upper leagues will come. Too many 07 parents have lost their mind chasing JDL this off year.
