Following the conclusion of the regular-season, the ECNL will host the ECNL National Championships July 15-18, 2010, in Seattle. At the ECNL National Championships, every ECNL team will compete in two post-season playoff games to determine final standings in each division at each age group. At the conclusion of the ECNL National Championships, individual age group ECNL National Champions will be crowned, an overall ECNL Club National Champion will be crowned, three teams from Challenge B will be promoted to Challenge A at each age group, and three teams from Challenge A will be relegated to Challenge B at each age group.


Am I reading this right?

I know this has a logical approach ... how do the "2" game determine the champion?
Are top 3 teams (from league play) playing each other?

Are top 3 teams (from league play) playing each other?

First plays Fourth. Second plays Third. The two winners face off for Championship. Pretty easy to understand but hardly the right formula for determining a champion. I would think that they each should play each other since there are only four teams.

I see ... they work they way down the regular season standings in gorups of 4.

Solar: Good chance of being promoted to A if they win 1 game in Seattle.

Feet: Must come out bracket winner to avoid relegation, but I like Feet's chances.

Goodluck to both and hope they both end up in A.

I'm not making the trip but will be getting updates. The bottom 4 teams in the A group will be playing each other to decide which team gets to stay in the A group and which 3 teams get relegated to the B group. I think it will be like the top 4 in which it is basically single elimination, winner plays winner and that winner stays in the A group and the other teams go into the B group. We will be playing 3 games but the 3rd game is exhibition as the first 2 games will have determined who is staying and who is going.

Sounds like a good trip ... as well as important for N Tx teams.

So....Sting and Real Colorado play in Seattle this weekend then in Kansas next week for NC? That seems a bit taxing....am I reading things right?

Yep, that's why I didnt get to go to Seattle and bask in the 70 degree weather doggonit But what great soccer weather for the middle of July!

Solar Red 94 plays Colorado Rush and Minnesota Thunder at both Seattle's ECNL Championships and at Nationals in KC 5 days later.

Well, all the teams will certainly be very familiar with each other after the next week or so Hopefully without any injuries and just one game a day all the teams involved in both tournaments will be ok.

Important to note that the ECNL Club Championship is on the line, too. ECNL Club Championship is determined by final standings of all three (u15 - u17) ECNL teams for each club and their is a restriction placed against results in Challenge B of 80% of points earned going toward club standings. In other words, Solar 95 which currently has earned 23 points during the regular season for 7 wins (x3) and 2 ties (x1)...actually only counts 18.4 points towards their club standing. Make sense?

As you can see...there is a premium for getting into...and staying in Challenge A.

Yep, you got that right! I'm pretty sure you and Solar both should be able to be two of the three teams they will promote. Just a heads up....it's gonna be very strong competition in Group A next year even without adding the newcomers like Scorpions/Surf/Slammers etc. That's what we pay for right? Hope to see y'all in Group A next year but if not, good luck!

Curious ... do teams at the tournament have to play with U15 roster that got them there or can they play with U16 newly signed roster.

Solar still has good chance at A ...
I would think that Feet is in trouble when it comes to staying in A if score is correct.

On the other hand seems like Broke would know, and that ECNL simply posted score wrong.

Solar is OK if they win a game ... remember they don't have to outrun the bear ... they just have to make sure they are not the slowest runner of the 4 (3 of 4 in their bracket advance). Although they do have to play Lonestars today and they have been very strong lately. I think SoccerPlus Connecticut is the weak sister in the bracket and will lose all 3 games, thus promoting Solar and Lonestars to Group A ... assuming I understand this thing correctly.

Feet must win their bracket to get promoted ... 3 of 4 get relegated ... My guess is that they will pull it off.

What's the story on rosters? U15 or U16 roster? Broke ... did the new players travel for this one?

Your right, however I think Solar will have to wait until Saturday not sure they can win today.

I understand that Shea had an idea that the Rev players were coming and rostered them. Don't know about the other.

Besides rostering anticipated players, ECNL teams are also allowed 2 additional spots just prior to the tournament deadline for players not migrating from other ECNL clubs.
