N TEXAS STATE CUP / BOYS 04 / GAMEDAY 04

GameDay 04 has made the jump! (Seemed simple enough.)

GameDay is the furthest thing from a "Told you so", BUT- I TOLD YOU SO. Chelsea East has planted their flag in the elite class of the north Texas landscape!

Going back to Friday in the group stage showdown vs. FCD Premiere who are the recently crowned winners of Classic Div. 1, were the proverbial deer caught in the headlights. FCD/P the top defense in D1 WAS EXPOSED! They had extreme difficulty with Chelsea East's multi-prong attack and slashing finish allowing 3 goals. FCD/P got desperate and began playing it up to no avail, everything was swallowed up by an organized Chelsea E. back line and exceptional keeper. (C.E. was the number one defense in Div. 2 only allowing 9 goals in 18 games.)

In the Quarter-Finals Chelsea East turned in a sold 3- 1 win over fourth place FC Premiere Forzi. Then, a 1-0 win over FCD East Gold (5th place) in the semi-finals. A quick look at the numbers; Chelsea East had an 8/5 goal differential vs. Div. 1 opponents in the tournament.

The Final sets up Chelsea East vs. Dallas Texans / Faber who are on a run of their own. This team plays close games and chokes opponents into submission.
They also beat FCD/P scoring twice and defeated a stout Dallas Kicks in the semis.
PREDICTION- I rarely make predictions but I can tell you now who will win the Final, but let me start with a question; has anyone noticed the "no call" attitude taken by the Refs in this tournament? Was there a mandate? Boys will be boys? It just seems apparent that they're swallowing the whistle in the tournament.

That being said- IF THINGS PROCEED as they have with limited calls, expect the Texans to bludgeon their way to the win. BUT IF THE REFS HAVE A "COME TO JESUS" MOMENT this Sunday an opt to usher in a new Era in North Texas of fluidity, passing, slashing and finishing for the good of the beautiful game - Div 2 Chelsea East will win the Title.

There were cards handed out in the finals. It was an emotional game. The Texans prevailed not by being more physical but by dominating possession in the second half into the wind.
