I got to see a lot of games up in Denver this past weekend. NTX teams represented the area well. The coaches and parents not so much.

There were a lot of great teams from all over the US. There were quite a few from NTX. There was a lot of talk about how good the NTX teams were but that was overshadowed by the parents and the coaches. There were many games that got quite ugly. I was surprised that the sidelines were not cleared a few times.

To put it as nice as I can, parents just need to shut up and quit trying to coach and ref the games. The majority of them have no clue about the rules or what the coach is trying to accomplish with plays. I actually saw one parent from an Orlando team cuss the coach out after the game. I guess little Johnny didn't play much that game.

Us parents will continue to be the issue and impediment to proper development. How can we get educated and stop the madness?

I started distancing myself from the sideline due to the constant shouting and so called coaching from the sidelines.

Someone come up with some great ideas besides silent soccer.

Nobody said the parents should be silent. The job of the parent is to encourage and cheer on the team. If you want to coach, then I suggest getting your coaching license and coach a team. If you want to challenge the ref on all the calls, then become a ref and learn the correct rules. Not the rules you that you heard from a friend who has a brother that has a father-in-law that was a referee 15 years ago. I hear some of the most stupid things coming from the sideline. Sadly, this is not limited to parents.

"Handball!", "He's playing on the ground!", "High kick!", "Offsides!"

Wish I had a dollar for every one I heard this weekend.

Also sat on the hill with parents of the game before us. High-level U12 team. One of the parents had an English accent. He and 3 others felt the need to joystick every touch. They lost.
