Stay and play tournament issue

I'm really struggling to understand why more and more tournaments are making teams stay at hotels that they choose. Back in the day when you traveled out of town you could call a hotel and work out a discounted rate for the parents. Not now, The tournaments work out the deal but still charge the parents full price. The hotel I talked to this week gives the rooms to the tournament for 20-25.00 cheaper than the rate the parents are quoted. The tournament then pockets the difference. lets say its on the low end of 20.00 a room X 16 rooms. The tournament makes 320 per team. Nice way of thanking a team for paying the travel cost to come to your event.

Because its all about the money, not the kids, not the sport, not the cause. Money money and more money.

It’s rediculous..

Cheapest tournament can be found right here at home. The way to avoid hotel and travel cost is to stay home. Other than that, all sports tournaments, soccer, cheer, and softball have stay and play policies built into the tournaments
