Cost for Keeper Training

If you're paying someone to train your keeper outside of their club, what do you think is a fair price for group sessions? Individual? Once a week? Twice a week? Just starting to navigate this path with my 09g so I don't know much about any of it.

Be ready for $40-$60 per hr. and make sure they work on skills, body control, core strength, and put them in live simulation drills. Also make sure she works on foot skills just like a field player.

I second rockwallgoaliedad. Our DD trains with her GK coach once a week. They work on more than just GK technique. GKs need to be well developed all around players and comfortable with their feet. My DD's team works the ball around the field and include her all the time in that passing. She has to be just as comfortable as the other field players in receiving, passing and handling the ball without her hands under similar pressure.

Finding a club where one is included and has the time or resources to give your keeper the amount of attention and training they need is like finding a unicorn. We are with a big club with multiple keeper coaches but they are spread thin and you work with their schedule. A private trainer is more likely to be flexible and provide 1v1 or preferably 2v1 training. Starting out and developing a keeper is more than a group session 30 mins a week with a club coach.

My DD is a keeper.... She has practice 2 days per week for an hour each. Average of 3-5 keepers there each time. Year round practice that comes with the club, no extra fee. We are at a big club.

Her club has a keeper coach, but his training is a 45-minute drive and I don't want to put any more on my 9 year old's plate during the week. It really needs to be on the weekend for it to make sense for our family, so paying extra is a better choice.

My DD has the same and we are in a big club also. Big clubs have their advantages.

$40- $60...yeah right in fantasy land. JK. When it comes to private keeper training, you get what you pay for. If you can find someone you like or your kid likes for 40 or 60, great. That is on the lower end of the price range though. The well known guys start at 100 easily, and go from there. I know of one whose program will cost you what many are paying for select dues. Sometimes I wonder if these guys are trying to price themselves out of business. IMO you shouldn't pay more than 50 per hour bottom line.

Our club has keeper training offered, as well. We did that for awhile, but we have found that she gets more out of her weekly GK training outside the club. It's 2v1, along with opportunities for field players to run drills with them. I believe they do Sundays.

Keeper coach, skills coach along w club plan on spending 10K plus other costs outside the standard budget. Other fees and cost to play we are talking some serious cash flow to master this skill.

Check out J4K North Texas. They have a great program with different options for days of training. If you are in the Keller/Southlake area I know a good private coach that focuses on game situation training, and explaining the "why" behind everything every drill.

I contacted Ben from J4K a couple of weeks ago because I noticed he had a Sunday class. She's been twice and LOVES it. The fact that it's indoor means that training is never affected by weather. It's been a saving grace the past couple of weeks for the boundless ball of energy that is my child. She'll be going tomorrow since both of her games will probably be canceled.

Our athletes at Paradigm start around 8. I start with GK's at 8.
