Job, School, Soccer...does it work? Empty Job, School, Soccer...does it work?

So I'm just looking ahead and asking of anyone with players that are of working age and up, or anyone who is thinking about, or has thought about this as well. Your kids may have school, club soccer, H.S. soccer (if they do) and any additional sport (if they do) and my question is, do they also have a job with these things as well and how does it all work together, or does it? If, and I know its a big "IF"....but if your kid is looking to play college soccer, at any level, he/she is most likely also looking to go to various ID camps as well. So...do you just work around everything....work schedule, studying, practice and game schedules and just fit it all in? Or do some of you hold off on having the kids start jobs at 16/17 or maybe its just a very part-time type job with understanding employers? I don't know. I've never seen this asked or addressed, so thought I'd see what everyone in that age range did or did not do.

The only way I could see it working possibly is a summer job or maybe a job at a soccer place they already frequent, maybe wherever they practice/play/do skills?

My soccer players aren't 16 yet, but my 17 year old played club volleyball and worked. She had understanding employers that worked with her school and volleyball schedules. I have seen some HS/club players reffing too.

A ref job is a good option. That way they can see what their own soccer schedule is, then they can schedule their referee games around it. It pays good money and they can work as little or as much as they want or have time for. They would be nationally certified so even if though go away for college they could still ref there once they got with an Assignor in their new location.

Ya, I'm thinking referee job looks like the best option while in school and playing. It seems to be the most flexible and they can still ref, not only rec games locally, but even tournaments non-locally and sometimes games on weekends non-locally as well, especially if we are already out of town. We live 2 hours away from where our competitive league play is played and there are a ton of games, every weekend in that area.
