Question re: Classic rules Empty Question re: Classic rules

Post by wreeves 04/03/19, 11:20 am

I've been attempting to read the Classic leagues rules to find out my answer but I'm finding conflicting information. Hoping someone in these forums can shed some light on a question for me. Our team had a player from last year who did not return come July 1. Fast forward to this past weekend, we have an injured player on the bench whose been out the past couple of weeks. The player who did not return from last year shows up in the injured players uniform and plays in our classic league game. There was zero communication from the coach that this player from last year would be playing in our game as he has not been playing in any games from fall, futsal or tournaments up to this point with us. Is this allowed in Classic league or not?

100% NO! Post the team name and coach so we can report him to classic and have the team and coach suspended.

That's not true. Roster changes are allowed. If the team/club replaced the injured player with the returning player through the proper channels there shouldn't be anything wrong with it.

I'm not outing a coach on a public forum, especially if I don't know what is considered "legal" or not. I have reached out to Classic league commissioner for our age group with the same question but no response yet.

When you say proper channels, what do you mean? Got Soccer? The injured player is still on our team, he's just injured currently. He was at the game sitting on the bench. So he hasn't been "replaced". Are you saying the coach could have signed the old player within the last week and added him to our roster in the middle of spring season?

I can almost bet the player that did not return wasn't registered or rostered to any team. The coach probably just called the player that didn't return and handed him a jersey to play in without following in the proper rules.

Want to prove me wrong? Send me the team name.

if the player was signed and registered in the Classic league gotsoccer roster by the Thursday 2:00pm deadline, he is ok to play.

the manager/coach would have changed the injured player's number so the new player could use his uniform/number.  the injured player, if still on roster, can sit on the bench out of uniform.

I obviously don't know the specifics, but assuming the club/team replaced the injured player with the returning player through GotSoccer and submit the proper forms to the league than it's within the rules. Giving the returning player the injured player's number is fine as long as it's on the game day roster with the returning player's picture, name, etc....

If the returning player pretended to be the injured player than it is against the rules.

Ok thank you upper95 and cadenhead. I checked the team's Got Soccer roster and the returning player is there with the injured player's number so I'm assuming this is what they did. I saw on the league rules the Thursday 2pm deadline but then I saw something about roster freezes, no guest players or player passes and got confused about what is legal and what is not. I wanted some clarification before I questioned our coach.
Still think there should have been some communication from the coach to the team or the parents before we showed up to the game to find this out but I've learned lack of communication is pretty typical.
