Is anyone else concerned about putting down another 3K (minimum) with the very real possibility that there can be long periods that they won't be able to play games and/or train?

Yes I'm concerned but hopeful there wont be a shutdown. Big indicator will be based on what the schools decide to do, I believe an announcement will be made this week.

Perhaps pay the minimum to get you signed up, month to month payments?

We have a young lady in our neighborhood that plays for OU. She said many of the smaller schools they would normally warm up against in fall tournament have pulled out b/c the D2/D3 schools just cannot afford it. Covid hit them very hard and if we have another shutdown I've heard possibly 20-30% of those smaller schools will have a very hard time making it.

I'm certainty hoping we don't have that spike driving a shutdown. That would be disastrous for so many, on so many levels across society.

It is a real possibility that we have a sporadic season. This season more than others you have to question traveling for any matches. Showcases are a complete waste if the coaches are not allowed to travel/attend.

COVID cases are popping up in the High School Summer Strength and Conditioning sessions over DFW and the state. Some kids we know are having to self-quarantine for 2 weeks as they were in the group with the positive test. I know it won't be forever - but I see more of this over the next months. Even without a full shutdown (which I think could definitely happen for at least a portion of this year) .... so many opportunities for disruption.

Our daughter loves soccer and we want to have her in it- but it's a lot of money on our budget. It would be great if she got a scholarship out of it- but smaller schools are going to have even less to give out, and we know that her soccer scholarship possibilities may not line up with the best academic situations for her career goals.

I don't really see just skipping out on your payments as a real viable option unless you're ready for your kid to quit club for good. You run the risk of the club going after you for the money (I have no idea how likely that is), but you could definitely not return to any team on that club without paying up!

You would hope that the clubs would come up with a plan for payments but as we know most of the coaches this is their only source of income. I think that there still can be something done b/c league fees and ref fees will not be used. So some of the funds should be able to be returned.

I would caution anyone thinking of paying in full to reconsider and pay monthly.

Yes but the discount is always good to pay in full. Even you don't pay in full you will still have to pay it.

How so? Enforceable thru contract - attorney litigation?

Gook luck with that.

Well I guess you don't have to pay it but you would not be able to play for that club again. So there is that.

So no you don't have to pay it. No they will have a hard time forcing you to but there will be other issues.

You will just have to find another team and club willing to take you.

I want to pay, I want the kids to play, I want the coaches to earn a living.

I do not want to pay for services not rendered.

I hear you. Like a lot of people said. This is the first time that any of us are going through anything like that. No one has the answers. I think that there are some solutions that can be built into the contracts but not sure that the clubs are going to do that. Leagues will have to offer more refunds. But in order to get field space and other stuff needed they have to put out money. There is always a cost with doing business. You can start to see it now where some tournaments are offering full refunds if the tournament does not happen. I do believe that you will start to see more of that going forward.

I just cant imagine any of the clubs prosing a solution as we didn't see any communication this last season. Leagues kept their fees, clubs didn't refund fees etc.

So you know for a fact that leagues kept their fees? You know for a fact that clubs are not doing to do something different....Lower dues for returning players to the club, lower dues in general, have a clause that a % of your dues will be refunded. In March a lot of games had already been played in Lake Highlands, U90c is playing games starting this week to finish up the season. Like I said before no one knows what is happenng b/c signing has not happen. I don't think that most clubs have given out information to coaches or managers as of yet.

No I don't know for a fact, outside of the league we play in and the club we belong to. Also speaking with friends with children in other clubs, the sentiment was the same. No refunds and very little communication.

Renegades Soccer has a COVID payment plan and other plans as well for this type of event. Great thing about a club run by parents and coaches is we can balance the needs of all to work together so we can still operate and parents get the value they deserve. Call me to discuss 214-673-1319.
