I have a question for you. There is a team playing PSA indoor this winter (and also just finished playing PSA outdoor this past fall) named FC FRISCO XTREME 04-Marin. They are playing in the 01 girls division! I've never seen them but am curious if this is indeed an 04 team. That would mean 6-7 year olds playing girls that are 9-10, right? Or perhaps the "04" designation beside the name means something else. I can't imagine PSA actually permitting such an age descrepancy... but who knows. Thanks. -JAS

That league most be supper weak. If that team is so awesome we'd be up to a scrimmage any time.

Agreed Turftoe, but you also have to remember these are rec '01s. When our girls were 6 we played '01s at American Indoor and won all the games I believe.

04 Girls SDL Standings after week 8 and makeup games Empty Re: 04 Girls SDL Standings after week 8 and makeup games

Post by Guest 17/11/10, 04:43 pm

I've heard that given the not insignificant number of '05s playing up in U7 this Fall, SDL is considering a U6 division, or something like it, for the Spring. I do know several clubs are planning on fielding straight '05 teams. For the sake of these teams, and those they'll play, I hope this rumor has some meat to it.

Any idea if it does?

Anyone care to make any predictions for the Primetime 04 tourney?
I say Liverpool-Dagalish vs. Webb final. Both advancing from same bracket and win there semi final games.

Seldom are the indoor teams at PSA true rec. Most of them have either a handful of academy helpers or they are sandbagging with quite a few signed up. The league that FC Frisco Extreme is playing in will not be a particularly weak one... which is why I was wondering how they ended up where they did (if this team is indeed an 04). Unless it's a Texans Red, Sting, Feet, or top Solar team that is hiding behind a rec persona, they could be in for a long season at PSA. There's just no way a "rec" 04 team plays up in a "rec" 01 league and doesn't get pummeled.

Looks like Juventus has backed out and has been replaced by Dallas Texans Rosales. That is a tough bracket.
Does anyone know if that Dallas Texans South Team is a new team? or have they been playing somewhere other than SDL?

I wish they wouldnt keep standings, and we wouldn't focus on them till at least u11. Its counter productive to player development.

Soccer America: What troubles you about the state of the national team?

CLAVIJO: We only have one Landon Donovan in a country of 300 million people. That’s not enough. We have a lot of role players, who are incredibly athletic, but missing a little bit here, a little bit there. There’s maybe one other with the special qualities, Clint Dempsey.

I think Bob Bradley did a very good job, but we need look really deep at what we’re not doing properly because we have not advanced that much more.

SA: What do we need to look at?

CLAVIJO: Youth soccer is a business in the United States and we make a living out of it. When that’s the case, results are everything and not necessarily development.

SA: Why does that impact the success of American soccer?

CLAVIJO: Because you choose players who are going to help you win and instead of focusing on developing players.

In the United States, there’s no shortage of players ages 12, 13, 14 who are huge, big and strong, and they might win. But when you go to 21, 22, 23, physically you’re level with everyone else and it’s the technical part of the game that’s going to make the difference.

We need to concentrate on the crucial U-12 and U-14 ages.

When you talk about U-12s or U-14s, unfortunately they’re often not coached by the most qualified coaches to develop or teach them properly at this most crucial time.

======================
"For us to improve the overall quality of play and be competitive in this global sport, we had to get serious about player development,” said Todd Durbin, MLS executive vice president for player relations and competition. “There’s been an emphasis on winning. When we emphasize winning at a young age, it comes at a detriment to player development. We want players to experiment. We want players to take risks. We want them to develop technically. The goal is not to win on Saturday

So after this weekend's tourney in MILF town, does it show that the 04 Liverpool girls are bouncing back now that LW has taken over?

Are there any teams that maybe took a step back in your thoughts?

Others might disagree, but If I had to pick the top 5 teams (in no particular order), I would say;
Liverpool A Team
SRSA
Solar Kennington A Team (They now have an A team & a B team)
Dallas Texans Rosales
Dallas Texans South
I think any one of these teams could beat the other depending on how they are playing that day.
(No one has seen the Rowdies yet)

Solar Gold and Texas Spirit North are not far behind. and I'm sure there are some more talented 04 teams that will be joining SDL in the Spring.

Hats off to the Liverpool A Team goalie. She made some great stops during the Primetime tournament.

good assessment. Dirty South can beat everyone with the right referee looking the other way.

And I don't think the Dirty South parents have received "the talk" yet about how to behave at a kids soccer game. There was a lot of screaming and yelling at the refs.

my favorite was the dad that yelled out "if she gets in your way just run over her". Glad they taught them not to lead with their head when they tackle. Might have been alot uglier when dd was wiped out by the "linbacker" as she went up the wing. Actually saw another girl shoot an elbow that fortunately didn't connect.

That's right, dude. Don't let anyone question your '04 daughter's team's undeniable place at the top. Any time, any where.

Actually, I think the poster was just asking about a team designation at PSA, but we don't want want anyone getting confused that your daughter's team (and you by association) are not the best thing going.

I'm guessing it is a typo or some kind of mislabeled team or maybe even a misplaced team by PSA. Coach Marin is a great guy and wouldn't do that to any of his teams. I'm thinking he may have played his teams and/or a few players up by a year, but not by that much. For the record, I don't have a kid on this team.

Liverpool A Team
SRSA
Solar Kennington A Team (They now have an A team & a B team)
Dallas Texans Rosales
Dallas Texans South
I think any one of these teams could beat the other depending on how they are playing that day.

If its the same ref that booted the Solar coach, I know exactly what you mean.

I saw the early portion of this game and the one take down of the small girl with the braid by the much more beefy, chorizo eating girl should have been a warning to the coach, at least.

Sad that the championship result wasn't based on soccer skill of the team alone, but rather who has broader shoulders and steel tipped boots. I'm ALL for aggressive on-game play, but leading in with no regard to the location of the ball isn't "aggressive play." Its sloppy and a loser's advantage.

PS - Tip of the hat to LW. From second to last in ranking to runner up for championship is a great way to start the New Look Liverpool.

As much as I want to dog pile on this topic, I'll stop.
I think the moderator lets me get away with alot as is, so for my forum account sake, I'll pass on this.....but I'm so itching to rip into this...

I did hear though on wfaa that there was post gunfire celebrations going on in OC....not sure why though. Smile
