What is GA - Girls Academy

Does anyone know what the Girls Academy is that BVB is advertising? Also are there any other clubs adding teams?

It's a new, national league that was formed when the DA (Development Academy) was shut down early 2020. Similar in scope to the ECNL. I have not heard of any other DFW teams joining..

Apparently FC Dallas ECNL parents have been told they will be switching to GA. Question pending is if it will be this summer or next.

MLS is mandating support of GA as they do with MLS Next. Which are both run thru and by US Soccer/USYS. You will see all MLS clubs supporting GA. Go ask around... its not new news.

In the meantime, I will say that either I am completely clueless to this(as were many to the DA debacle), or that AtthePitch is FOS. I’m betting the latter.

I can't imagine parents and girls would be excited about some new league platform. I guarantee if you asked the Texas ECNL players and families if they would be in favor of leaving ECNL for the GA (or some new MLS league), 95% would respond with a resounding "hell no, we are good with how things are."
ECNL has now consolidated 90% of the top clubs and teams nationwide and locally. It seems to be working just fine.

Man, I won’t take offense to that. I don’t play on here much these days, much better things to do in life, but these weather and finishing the work day has me sitting around today.

If you check my track record or know who I am you would know I don’t just spit stupidities on here to rile folks up as some do. But hey it’s all good.

For what it's worth, this may not actually matter in the grand scheme as I can't think of very many MLS clubs that have an elite girls youth club attached to it. FC Dallas and LAFC/Slammers are two off the top of my head. Anyone think of any others?

So this really means 3 top clubs in the country may get "MLS Support" if they are in the GA? Doesn't seem very relevant, or am I missing something?

Someone remind me what happened with ECNL and FCD a few years back when they (FCD) choose DA over ECNL.

Did ECNL remove them? Or did FCD just not participate in ECNL?

Maybe the relationship there isn't all that strong?
