So avoid all asians?
No. Just the ones with the short fingers. Yao Ming would make a fine doctor.

I would stay away from pygmies, however. They might need to go in head first. Ouch.

There is no such thing as a "first annual" anything. The word you are looking for is "inaugural."
If you come back and run this again next year, then you are able to use "second annual."

FIRST ANNUAL
Some people get upset when the “first annual” occurrence of some event is announced, arguing that it doesn’t become annual until it’s been repeated. But “first annual” simply means “the first of what is planned to be an annual series of events”—it’s a fine expression.
Common Errors in English Usage
From around the internet (which is always based in fact):
Remember, even if you have every intention of hosting an event annually, you should never refer to the first such event as the "First Annual." Especially if you're sending a press release to a newspaper. I've been, and have known, editors who trashed away PR that used the term "First Annual."
This is a surprisingly common error. People seem to want to call events first to indicate their intention to have more. But the word annual does not have anything to do with intention – only with fact. Something is annual only if it takes place each year. This is impossible to determine when the first of such events occurs. Annual should be used only for annual things, such as taxes and longstanding events. In other words, if it didn't happen last year, it's not annual, and if the space isn't reserved for next year (or the occurence equally likely), it's not annual. So the second year, with the third year's arrangements made, is the first time an event can properly be called an annual event.
If you are having an event for the first time, it should be called simply by the event name, not by 'first annual event'.
If you come back and run this again next year, then you are able to use "second annual."
back at you
Inaugural does not imply annual. It could be the first of many planned biennial celebrations of something, or weekly, or whatever. So, if the event is to be annual, first annual is more precise.
Inaugural implies "first ever" which is the point. "Annual" implies that it is yearly, but how can it be yearly when it hasn't even occurred once?
I learned this lesson the hard way by failing a mid-term paper for one reason, and one reason only. Professor gave me an F because I used "first annual."
I argued, much like you are now. He was, and still is, much smarter than I. I'll give you the lesson he told me: "If you use idiotic terms like 'first annual,'
then you are showing your ignorance as a human being and will fail at life." (more or less his words)
Take that as you want.
