Re: Letters Anyone
It would seem even if they had been mailed out last Tuesday, some would have received them by now.

Re: Letters Anyone
Mine did not make it in. She was given promising feedback in session one and two, but her third session wasn't pretty.
I will say I found the rejection letter interesting in a not so good way.
It encouraged players to have their competitive coaches contact the offices at a later date and they could be scouted. No mention of trying out again the next year.
I can understand this policy/exemption if a player was injured during tryouts or if a coach has a newly relocated player. But to IMO it would be unfair to those who attended each session (particularly the last since due to the weather), made the effort and made the squad through the tryout process. If a player only attended one session, was not injured and made no effort to attend the others, only to have someone be ushered in later on at ODP's discretion seems a bit unfair to those who busted their butt and made the squad.
Just my two cents.

Re: Letters Anyone
If this is how they are ultimately going to build squads, then ODP needs to forgo the tryout process completely and go to a strictly scouting method.

I heard 72 was the number of players they were taking. We had 9 girls from our team make ODP so maybe the number went up.

I heard 4 teams of 20 (including goalkeeper) which totals 80. In the same ballpark but definitely not the mid hundreds as advertised.
2 out of 5 that I know of made it. My DD was not one of the accepted.
Personally, my DD was not ready but it was a great experience for her. She still has some development and though she was disappointed she was not deflated. She still loves soccer. She did find the letter somewhat generic and condescending. Specifically the bold statement that said ' You are a good soccer player". She read that and said, "they said that in all the letters". She still had her humor so glad for that!

Not sure about your DDs letter but if they were generic as my DD claims. The second from last statement in our letter....
Each year NTSSA conducts open tryouts for the 00s. Do not be discouraged!!! Practice on improving your skills. You may be selected in the future.
A round about way of saying come tryout again but it was mentioned.

Don't feel too bad. NTX ODP is a joke. Better training at the club level.
And it's not the only,or even the best, route to the National team.
My DD's both played on the "top" ODP team, and didn't really get much from it. Camp was a good experience, but from a soccer perspective, you're not missing anything.

I will second that motion. If you can make it through the grind that is NTX ODP and make the regional team, that is where the fun begins. Making friends from around the nation and spending a week in Europe playing soccer for $1000.00 is pretty sweet.

Wow! Nine is outstanding from that team.
Does anyone know how many made it from the Bates 01's?
