'03 Advanced Power Rankings
'03 Advanced Power Rankings
Also, considered were the following tournaments:
Winter Cup, Winter Classic, Freedom Cup, TGPL Tourn., and Lightning Cup.
Head-to-head matchups, strength of schedule, success vs. common opponent(s), and goal differential values were all considered. This program is not FBR. It was designed to compliment FBR and the Human Rankings and to provide for a 'BCS' like ranking system.

Good work - no real issues
It's clear that there is a big gap after #6 ... you could easily rearrange teams between #7 - 15 and have a strong argument. That list is so fluid and really depends on who is hot at the time.
1 thing does jump out ... obviously TGPL is the strongest league, but then shows EAL (Gold) as the #2 league followed by Primetime West (Gold).

Re: '03 Advanced Power Rankings
Odyssey 03 Gold is playing in a U10 9v9 league and they too were recognized, however, much more info is needed on their 02 opponents. Didn't have the luxury of common opponent there. Odyssey 03 Gold may climb significantly in future rankings. We'll see.
I agree with your comment on 7 thru 15 and who's hot...and that's exactly why you see LP Keegan jumping to #10.

Odyssey was the other that I was thinking of because they are a bit of an enigma. It's a very good team that nobody knows about just because they seem content to stay in the background -- you rarely see them in tournaments. Not sure why. I've seen them play for several years now (although not in the last 6 months) and the team has stayed together from what I know. There are several Primetime tournaments coming up so that may be an opportunity to gauge that talent (assuming they play their "top" squad).
And not that it matters much but DT South plays in EAL U10 Silver (and is undefeated). I don't think that it will affect the rankings much but you never know. Surely adds cushion between #2 and #3.
You mention LP Keegan ... A very small squad (11 players) that was hit by injuries from Nov - March. On top of that, the coach resigned 1 week before the spring season started. Needless to say, it took a while for the coach/player chemistry to start to come together. It's a very athletic team that's starting to learn to play soccer. I think that's what has caused their inconsistency over the last 4 months. It will be interesting to see how they finish out the spring season and compete in tournaments.

Re: '03 Advanced Power Rankings
At some time will you add in the DIAL Silver teams that are not listed?
D'Feeters (MBemba)
Sting Blue Solis
Lady Titans
Sting White
Mutiny Maroon
Rockets

Re: '03 Advanced Power Rankings
The DIAL Silver teams were included. With some tournament wins and/or improved 'strength of schedule' games, they can make their way into the Top40.

Re: '03 Advanced Power Rankings
There are actually 76 '03 teams that were in this data set. It just gets too convoluted to figure anything past the top 40.
The DIAL Silver teams were included. With some tournament wins and/or improved 'stregnth of schedule' games, they can make their way into the Top40.
Makes sense. Thanks again!

I think the LP Keegan would improve even more if they didn't play Rec on Sat and Academy on Sun. They would definitely benefit to doing straight academy imo.
I often wonder why also Odyssey dosen't play in tourny's or atleast in tourny's that have actual competition. Seems every tourny i see them in they play in the least amount of teams in them.

Wasn't necessarily trying to be a smart a$$. Just know Searls and Scarfone have been picking up players from the other Sting teams. Understand missing soccer for other DD interests. My DD missed Saturday's game vs Polaris '02 for a bball tourney.

This team has not had much turnover. Their core group of girls has been together for some time now (almost 3 full years). When my DD played for them for 2 years, there were several people that didn't want to travel much for games. Most of the kids on this team are from the Keller/Roanoke/Southlake area. I think this is probably still a reason for where they play and also what tournaments they play in. Hopefully they will surface more in the future. They have a strong group of girls and an excellent goalie.
Scoop99, thanks for putting the rankings together.

Re: '03 Advanced Power Rankings
It's unbelievably close in that group! And there are some really good teams in the 20-30 range...some that receive alot of talk in this forum
..a couple in particular will see the top20 once they get some quality wins under their belts.
I say to them
"patience grasshopper"
