The only way it makes sense is if U12 D3 is stronger across the board than U11 D1. It would take an additional two years playing well to get to the top.

My understanding is that players can jump up on age group, but must play age pure first year.

I thought that meant that U10s could not jump up and play with U11s.

Once a player is of select age (U11), they can play up. A U10 player may not play up to U11.

In other words, as of July 31, 03s can play up.

Ranking/Schedules for QT - Page 2 Empty playing up

Post by JH01 29/04/13, 10:42 am

So if SRSA wanted they could play in the U12 QT girls and compete with all the previous u11 teams in D3 now the bottom 5 and whoever else came up from Plano and Arlington. or they could play in the boys QT tourney that would be awesome!!!

It is about what will develop his team and the girls the most. In my opinion I would play in the Boys Classic league for a couple of years...U11,U12, and then U13 and then that team will be going ECNL anyway and it depends on when that happens, at what age...and or they could enter the boys pre- Academy League.

The SRSA team is already beating all the girls so it would be a wasted year in the U11 age group. Why wait for everyone to develop and your team stagnates or play in the u12 D3 would be worse than the U11 in my opinion....best options is IMO is Boys Classic. Smile

I think you will see 1 or 2 players (maybe more) go and play on a D1 - 02 team, leaving a still strong 03 team in tact.

Be interesting to see how they would do in boys QT. I'm assuming not ALL the best boys teams played TBPL?

The rumor I heard was that an 03 team might try to qualify for 01 LHD3. Is this SRSA team really that good? I guess the rules do allow it then...

Just scattershooting here...

The point of a dominant '03 team trying to qualify for '01 LHGCL D3, is to play a level of competition that will provide significant challenge to aid in the development of these players... challenge that they don't feel that they would get playing in '01 D1, or '02 D3 (totally justified IMO)...

HOWEVER, what happens if it turns out that the mighty '03 team isn't quite good enough and FAILS to qualify for '01 D3?

Suddenly, no league to play in p-e-r-i-o-d.

While this is all great "what if" talk... I just can't see any group of parents in such a situation taking that big of a chance.

Count me as a doubter that this will happen. Not because I don't think SRSA '03 could do it, but because I just can't see anyone taking that big of a chance.

My guess (and that is all it is), is that you will see SRSA '03 in LHGCL U11 D1 next year, either in it's current completely dominant form, or in a slightly less dominant form as a small # of their top '03's move up to play on SRSA '02 (or heck, maybe even SRSA '01). Then, you will see SRSA '03 playing up in U12 division of any tournaments that they enter, much the same as FC Dallas '02 and Texans '02 have done.

My guess is DM will start his own charter school and let them play on the High School level and let them train 8 hours a day 5 days a week, then in 2016 they will be the Women's National Team

From LHGCL -

l) All teams must participate in their proper age division. No team will be allowed to “play up” during the soccer year unless special scheduling for the age division is provided by the Age Division Commissioner. All special scheduling must be approved by the LHGCL Executive Board.

In my opinion, there are a lot of D1 players that are superior in skill to the D3 players in the next older division. The problem is that as you get older the girls get so much bigger (one year is a lot at the lower ages). If the 03 (for example) is a really petite player, it would be difficult to combat the size issue. If size isn't an issue, and you want to keep pushing your kiddo, you would be smarter to look at a D2, possibly D1, in the older group.

Are there teams that apply to participate in LHQT and are not accepted? There are 88 - 03 teams in the latest FBR, you would think there will be more apply than 45 or 50?

All that's needed is the $$ for acceptance.
Not all teams have hopes of LH.

Consider a few factors:

- The tournament fee ($800) is pretty steep
- There are no "Silver" or "Bronze" brackets to group lower level teams together. You will get a game against a top 15 team and a top 30 team.
- There is no minimum game guarantee - if the tournament doesn't have a # of teams = a multiple of 4, there will be 3 team brackets and you could only get 2 games and get eliminated.

I think those factors help to keep the total # of teams entering in the 40-50 range.
