Yep it's the LHGCL D II Texas Spirit North. Looks like they'll play their league game at 8:00 and then head West to play at 11:45.

It's really just a pure and simple case of bad timing for those tourneys this year. Most of the LH D2/D3 teams have their final league game this weekend, which has been on the schedule for a couple of months. Plus, State Cup semis/finals are this weekend, so any team that signed up for State Cup had to leave this weekend open in case they advanced from pool play.

Depends if Lightning has their big middle striker still or has she moved up to a new team yet.... Very different team with out her(similar to TFC D1 and the nationally ranked track star up front). Lightning is a good team but she scored 75%+ of their 33 goals this season and yet they did not get to move up.

I think there is a lot of parity from d2 down through several of the d3 teams with the 01s.

I agree but if this lightning team stays together and gets one or two more solid players they will be dominant for a few years wherever they play.

Don't see anyone dominating D3 for next season. Previous to their final regular season game, Lightning scored 2 goals in their 4 most recent games. Their style of play doesn't lend itself to possessing the ball for extended periods of time.

Also, lots of parity. And most teams think they're two players away from domination.

Have you seen some of the top d-1forwards play in the 01 division? There are some pretty good forwards in the 01 div.

I will agree that these two are very dominant players. Better watch out pointing them out or the D1 coaches will come looking.

IF they stay together, not sure all the key parents will stick around for D3... she has not gone unnoticed..... Othjer well coached teams have figured how to shut down this main scoring threat, I understand that they have other girls who can play, but not drop bombs from 30 yards out.

Also, teams like, Diamonds, Sting, COSMOS, TFC, did figure them out by the 2nd half of the season.....each season the average play raised and the gap that dominate players have reduces. That is why well executing teams with ball control and solid defense continue to rise.....IMHO..

No offense to any of the talent in D3 or who these Lightning girls dominate, but the defenses in D1 are in another league (lol, literally) and the strikers doing damage in D1 are unbelievable dynamic. The speed of play and quickness of the decision making of those players are often underestimated. There are many stand outs in D2 and D3, that would struggle in D1.

Blank you are dead on.... speed and skill level are great no doubt. I have seen the Lightening "big strikers" and yes while one can boot it from 25-30 yards out I have not seen the athleticism that you see typically in most of the D1 forwards....MO

I would tend to agree that the difference in general between many of the D1 teams and say some D2 and D3 teams is the quantity of big, fast, aggressive forwards and quickness on defense. When you make mistakes on Defense, those forwards will make you pay.

if anything, Lightning's smaller, more speedy right wing benefits from the attention paid to "The 2".
