Celtic 02 and Saints 02 Beat LHGCL D1 teams at Shawnee Trail Shootout and Cowtown Classic

Celtic 02 along with Saints 02 are promoting up to D2 LHGCL this coming season. Should be a very interesting season watching these 2 teams in D2 this year.

Celtic played D1 #13 Sting Dunstan and beat them 3-1. Then played D1 #17 TFC and beat them in the final 2-1 to take home the trophy at the Shawnee Trail shootout this past weekend.

saints 02 played D1 #16 Waco Blast and beat them 1-0 at the Cowtown Classic May 10th weekend.

Congratulations Celtic and Saints! Will be fun to watch this season.

Agreed...both great teams! If Celtic SC shows up in the fall, they should have a great season! Saints are pretty consistent with finishing and should do well. Will be fun to watch!

Confidence is important stuff. Great event for those teams. Bet they will be ready in the fall season to compete hard and surprise some folks. I really thought the Saints were gonna make D1 last year but they misfired during QT. They're back now.

Yes the Celtics are a very good team and TFC girls can't wait to meet back up with them in season play. It was one the best final championship games we have had. Hopefully when we meet there will be NO WIND! It really did stink to lose like that in literally the last minute of the game especially when we had more than our share of shots on the goal with the wind helping us.

It was a great weekend for TFC even if we didn't come out with the 1st place trophy. TFC went into the finals with 4 wins and only 1 goal scored against them. They matched and beat an out of town San Angelo team, Andro Blue & Sting Dunstan which is always a great match up (prior to this match up we had played each other twice with each team coming out with a win). Matched Solar Chelsea (they are going to be strong team going into QT so watch out those qualifying).

In the Celtics game TFC dominated the game but wind did play a huge factor. Celtics scored on a free kick with the wind. TFC keeper got a hand on it but wind helped push it in when in normal conditions it would have gone out of bounds. TFC came right back and scored and kept Celtics keeper on her toes the whole game. Shot vs shot TFC had tons more shots on goal then Celtics did. I will say Celtics 2nd goal was a beautiful goal in the last 15 seconds of the game. It was a beautiful cross into the upper 90's. I don't know any 11 yr old keeper that could have stopped that ball.

Fun weekend for 2 strong D2 teams. We can't wait to match Celtics again in league play in the fall. We hope the results will be different next time around though. Very Happy

You are correct! Just sayin- I hate using the "wind" as an excuse. Everyone has to play on the same fields and have the same advantage and dis-advantage. Enjoyed playing TFC

So they lost..it is obvious Saints are a quality team. That is the thing about soccer, or most any sport, any given day the better team can be beat. LP Keegan is obviously on a roll but Saints are a proven, long term quality team. Just one of those days/games for them I'm sure. My dd has played against them many times and has beaten and lost to them. So please....one win or loss in a tournament is hardly indicative to the true quality of a team. Especially when many teams have guests or have players out due to guesting with other teams.

My thoughts exactly. With all the guest playing going on the next two months, tournament wins really don't mean much. May/June tournaments are strictly a chance for players/teams to try out the fit of different players/teams. It is not the time to judge the quality of a team. We all know what a game changer a couple of good guest players can make.

So, our "real" team worked hard together and came out with a win. Please do not take anything away from this team and all the hard work that they have put in this past year.

I'm just thankful that the winner of a game is determined by outscoring the other team.....not by a parent/spectators version of how the game was played.

After our DD's team's discouraging loss to Celtic, we stuck around to watch the TFC / Celtic game. When both teams had the wind they were EQUALLY matched - it was a great game! TFC can say they "dominated" the game but not in our opinion. Sounds like someone's being a poor sport. Sad

Celtic is a team that has consistently gotten better this year and has proven to be a force in our small soccer world. We've all seen them grow and move up the rankings. TFC is a GREAT team too and always has been but as Momma Bear said, "any team can be beaten on any given day." This is very true regardless of where teams are currently ranked. Celtic had a tough loss to the Tyler team 1-0 - and the wind was whipping then as well. Both TFC and Celtic were simply "on" that day and when they play again in Div II - wind or no wind - they should be well matched. Just an on-looker's opinion - great job to all teams this weekend!

I can say TFC was our full roster from LH with no guest players. So what people saw this weekend is the same team from this past year of LH. Our girls have made huge strides and showing they are improving weekly. We have a great group of girls, coach and families.
