The roster should not be higher than 16, why do you need 18 players, they should have smaller rosters so the players can get more touches.03soccermomtx wrote:Will this change anytime soon? Almost every tournament and the other league is 18. Does this make sense?

No it doesn't, all age groups up to U16 should have a max roster of 16. U16 and up should be 18.

Rhetorical thought of the day:
Makes you wonder why we let them play if the severity and rate of injury is going up. Aren't we as parents supposed to protect our kids?

Everybody comes on this board whining about better player development. How will larger rosters help with that? We need smaller rosters in North Texas, not bigger ones.

15 is a great number at that age. With 15 capable kids the coach and the team can have a lot of fun and a lot of success.Gunner9 wrote:My dd's U11 coach, who I respect immensely, only took 15 to maximize everybody's playtime.....and minimize his headaches
What value would 3 more players add there? Bigger is not always better. The law of diminishing marginal returns anyone?

That is an easy answer - 3 more players would add more revenue for the club and possibily a bit more $$ for the coach. For the players it adds no value.

Agree, my son's coach a few years back, rostered 14 for both U11 & U12 and went to 16 at U13. It was a great experience for all and was easier to for the coach. Maybe a little less money for him, but he will tell you it was worth it.

I'm curious, why are you thinking there should be more players on a U11 or 12 roster? As the girls get older, I get it, but why would you want there to be more spots at the youngest ages?
