LHGCL Spring Roundup - Schedule Change Announced!

After polling teams, we have determined that there are enough teams that are unable to play on Monday that we have decided to reformat the tournament to end on Sunday evening.

This means semi-finals and finals will be played Sunday afternoon and evening. Expect the last games to end after 7pm on Sunday evening.

Unfortunately, this means that, other than than scheduled league games for our guest teams, it will be impossible to accommodate most special scheduling requests, i.e. playing at a certain time of day.

We hope this change allows us to field even more teams to the following group:

I understand the desire to have more teams, but is the motivation to have 2 competitive divisions so as to be able to group the same teams that have been playing each other in league play to simply play each other again in your tournament?

I don't think we're going to get all LHGCL teams to register. If you look @ the U14 teams currently registered, we have a representation of 8 D1 - D3 teams (4/2/2), plus 2 non LHGCL teams, so while there may be some teams that have played in league play meet in the tournament, my hope is that by getting more teams from other leagues (we sent invites across Texas, NM, OK, KS & TN) in addition to LHGCL, we're able to have more competitive brackets across different divisions and to allow teams to play some different competition and get some different challenges.

Please note we will accommodate scheduling around other local leagues when putting together our tournament schedule. We'd love to host your team and give you a chance to play against some new competition. Please email/pm with any requests.

I was being somewhat sarcastic with my post above. What I was alluding to is the fact that in most of these tournaments, teams end up playing virtually the same teams they've played previously in league play or prior tournaments. LH D3 playing other D3 or Plano D1 and LH D1 playing each other or maybe a D2 team thrown in. There is no suspense/excitement in that. Why not give a top Plano D1 team a shot at a lower LH D2 team or a top LH D3 team a game against a top LH D2 team, etc., mixing it up like that across brackets, with the out of town teams mixed in.  Using some common sense of course.
