I see where there are two tournaments this weekend any predictions as to who comes out on top or even more importantly, who is going to be playing with whom?

I would imagine you will probably see some interesting results as coaches evaluate guest players so you never know what you are going to get. Other than that I'm not predicting a thing because my predicting sucks (see last seasons DI LH's results).

Have fun this weekend.

Looks like one of the teams forfeited games at Flamefest before the start of the tournament. I'll pick LP Elite since their team is pretty much the same. Continuity on this team will help tremendously.

Seeding looks wonky in Flamefest. Is that because of team that forfeited?

Other than LP Elite winning, it will probably be hard to predict anything accurately because of:
* players trying new teams
* families traveling
* ODP camp (maybe this week?)
* player unable to get release for tournament from previous coach

I do agree that Flamefest grouping is weird.  Group A has the "lowest ranked" teams while groups B and C seem like a separate tournament.

If solar royal beat LP Shanklry tonite, then Elite will be eliminated and not advance to semis.

So just read that Shakley and Solar royal tied, so Elite advances as the wild card. Guess they can still take it...

Congrats Sting Hilton and LP Elite for winning their tournaments this weekend. Probably the two teams I would have predicted winning, although I don't know if I would have predicted them losing a game. However this is the beauty of June soccer, anything can happen.

From what I was told it sounds like Andromeda had a very exciting weekend, scoring two goals in the final two minutes to beat LP Rush and then beating Fever off a header on a corner with less than five seconds to advance to the finals. DII should be interesting next year.

The League Challenge results were interesting. Lots of close games. I really think Sting Sanchez seems ready to make the jump to DIII this year. Will be interesting to see all the teams that actually try to qualify for DIII this season.

I heard LP Elite lost to Andro and then had a late goal with only 3 minutes left in the championship game to beat Andro. Also heard LP had their full squad including the stud mid and stud "guess" player. Sounds like it was a pretty exciting weekend for all the teams.

Yeah I saw that score and was wondering what was up but from what I heard is that andro had 3 chances and finished two of them in that first game. I was told they were both just great shots and the kind you just tip your hat two and say good job. LP played well but just kept hitting shots off the post and testing the andro goalie but with no luck.

Then the next time they played it was pretty much the same thing with LP controlling the game but just couldn't get anything past the keeper. This time andro had two chances but couldn't convert. The LP parent I spoke to had nothing but good things to say about Andro and how tough they played defensively. Said Andro had some kids that could really strike the ball and in the second game they were worried that the keeper might actually score in the second half from her own goal with as hard as she could kick it and the wind that was at her back in the second. For as many chances as it sounded like they had they said they just couldn't get anything past their keeper.

I didn't ask about who all they end up having on their roster this weekend but I knew before it started they were without two starters from their end of league roster for the weekend and they we're going to have a handful of guests (hence why I refused to make any predictions Smile ). I'd heard Fever, LP Rush, and Sting West I believe all had some guests and roster juggling so I figured there would be some interesting results. Seems like it was andro that helped supply the majority of them Smile I always like it when someone unexpected makes some noise. Gets boring when it's the same stuff every weekend. Thank you Andro

lol I knew as soon as I heard they lost the excuses would be flying on here but to be honest I didn't expect anything different from lp parent feedback.

honestly I find these type of comments ridiculous. .
my dd was a guest player this past weekend with one of the other teams ... we lost to Andro too so I will leave you with this ... something was working for Andro this weekend. They were fast, came to play and they played till the final whistle. elite had all of their stud players and their squad and a couple guests- same as everyone else. elite did not control all of the games as you are being led to believe. they controlled parts of each game but so did andro but I will tell you this, LP Elite did have a great shot in the last 3 minutes of the championship game, the kind you tip your hat to.  Laughing

why do some teams find it so hard to give credit where credit is due? always consider your source!

Yeah, I couldn't see anyplace where credit was given.

Post by GrandTXSoccer 17/06/14, 10:26 am

Yeah, I apologize if my reporting of the story I was told sounded like someone was making excuses because I didn't hear anyone that lost this weekend make any excuses. All three, LP Rush, Fever, and Elite had pretty much the same thing to say about Andro, they were fast, physical, had a great defense, strong keeper and girls that could really strike the ball if given a chance and at the end of the day they made the plays to win all those games. The way I took it from the finals that in the second half Andro had the wind and the prevailing thought was that they were going to find a way to get a shot off and with the way they could strike the ball they would find a way to win again (from both Andro and Elite parents). My own personal opinion and not the opinion of any of those teams is that the ones most disappointed in the losses were Rush and Fever, simply due to the clutch way Andro came back. They won the Rush game with I believe two goals in the final 2 minutes and they won the Fever game in the last five seconds. Think about what a great couple of wins, regardless of the teams, those comeback wins are and what they can do to boost a teams confidence. I thought Andro had a shot to make DI last year but things just didn't go their way down the stretch but with the confidence gained from this tournament I can see them challenging for that top spot in DII.

Now I will say that everyone I spoke with, which includes all but one of the teams playing this weekend (I don't know anyone on Solar Blue) said the fields were pretty darn bad. Can't tell you how many times I heard someone say there were times that you would lose site of a player on the field because the slope was so bad Smile

I can verify the Fever loss ... It was in the last seconds of the game. Corner kick was headed in for the score.

I agree with you GrandTx the fields were in poor condition and had pretty significant sloping. Funny cause I thought I remembered those fields used to be kept in prestine condition. I didn't remember sloping either but that probably didn't change.
