Competitive Sports Article ...

Really interesting series in the Dallas paper. Thought I would share and see if anyone has comment. Even though we're caught up in club sports ... and I see the cost of it first hand ... I still think its worth it. College sports may be a dream but how would you ever know if you do not open that door? If not for high school or college, I think competitive sports in general teach great work ethic. At least that's what I'm telling myself as I write out the checks.

The article was both great in that it captured the trend away from a public-school-only sports environment to a more free-market one, but also not-so-great in that it didn't really delve into the reasons why some thrive in the club environment while others don't. It also didn't investigate some of the ugliness that goes on or elevate some of the really great coaches. Maybe all those loose ends will be tied up in the final (4th) installment.
