Please read this article and I appreciate the feedback on how many coaches do rest their players adequately after a strenuous weekend. https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/u/0/s/?view=att&th=134670327225f023&attid=0.1&disp=attd&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P9Px7zVKe0bUJGdSFtkC5BC&sadet=1408296156163&sads=Jj67ZdXgsbp6u6Zcr4J6WGyeyJk

Great article! Most kids are stretching enough and/or properly either.

Is it really up to the coach to teach how to stretch? I only ask a coach to teach the game. Stretching, fitness, mentality, and fortitude is up to the parents and the child.

It should be. The right kind of stretching can reduce injury and increase performance.

Agreed. I have heard that dynamic stretching is best now.

Spot on!

I only do this, but after a few minutes of getting the blood flowing through the muscles. I accomplish this, for example, by starting with something like dribbling in an enclosed area, where touches can be had and muscles relaxed and filled with blood. It's only then do I move to almost exclusively dynamic stretches.

It pains me to see static stretches, especially in young kids. The risk of injury is so much higher.

. Exactly! Warm up, dynamic stretch, static stretch as a cool down before bed or on off days.
