State Cup

Really against the ECNL dual roster thing, especially in State Cup.  If ever there was a tournament that should be a pure roster, shouldn't it be in this tournament?  Doesn't ECNL have their own tournaments?  I'm really wishing we were 00s now before this dual nonsense started!

Are you claiming there are ECNL girls on state cup rosters? If there are, I assume it cant be that many since there are ECNL games next weekend and if those teams make it to the second weekend, the ECNL girls wont be able to play.

All 4 clubs (not D'Feeters) have ECNL girls on state cup rosters, but only Solar and Texans teams had ECNL players playing at the tournament this weekend. Since Solar ECNL has a game next weekend and Texans ECNL does not, Solar will be short-handed at the state cup next weekend.

I predict Kicks and Texans in the finals, with Kicks taking the cup.

Texans White also used dual rostered girls, what's the big deal, these teams have girls that have played LH and ECNL all season long, it's not as if they just showed up for State Cup, they are a part of that team. The D'feeter comment is mute, they are not playing State Cup because they have no LH D1 team.

Not to worry ECNL players will not be back in LHGCL next year.

There were several LH D2 teams competing in the state cup and D'Feeters has a LH D2 team.

Maybe it's just my dd but she loves playing with/against the ECNL players. She likes seeing where she is compared to them and how she stacks up against them! Maybe my dd just enjoys higher level of competition, who wouldn't though...

Not sure what this quote above means, but a shoutout to FCD for minimizing their use of ECNL players in this year's opening weekend.

Something that North Texas Soccer could do to level the playing field for those State Cup teams with no ECNL presence (non-D1 participants):  resist the urge to schedule only non-D1 teams for two games on the first day of play while D1 teams get only one game.

Doing this might actually encourage more non-D1 participants. And that might make for enough teams to have four brackets of four teams each.  More teams entering = more money for North Texas Soccer.  Everyone wins.  And more lopsided wins for D1 teams.  Oh wait, maybe not.  See results in brackets B & C.

If I'm not mistaken, there were 3 D1 teams that played 2 games the first day, one of them had ECNL players-meaning those players played 2 games the first day...

Yes, that's true, but the 3 D1 teams playing 2 games were part of a four-team bracket. You see, I'm not opposed to playing 2 games in a day. I'd just like to see all teams playing the same amount of games per day.

Sounds like someones just got sour grapes for being stuck in a group with fcd and solar...................you beat fcd and congrats on that...................i'm sure they had dual-rostered players playing and they're still a solid team without their studs. considering fcd and solar tied, i'm sure some would think your result against solar should have been closer then it was.................can argue its your second game of the day and solar had fresh legs or whatever. regardless, finished second in the group and beat a solid d1 team. congrats to your girls and their accomplishments this year. please accept the praise and don't start complaining about what they had and you didn't.

I opened this thread as a complaint against the dual roster system especially in the State Cup.  The Solar team for example will be a different team next weekend as they have an ECNL game at 9 I believe and then semis for State Cup at 10.  This leads me to believe that the roster will look different. I'm of the opinion that State Cup should be pure, meaning whoever is on the roster for one game should be in all of the games.  This is the first year for this phenomenon and feedback is valid.

With respect to ECNL or dual rostered players being added to state cup rosters, it has happened with most age groups that came before 01s...nothing new. What's new is a possibility any team's state cup roster looks very different from the first weekend to the second because of ECNL conflicts. 01s were the first age group that retained byes for ECNL teams, so u14 LH for 01s has been interesting to say the least. What you're now seeing in state cup is exactly what's been happening all season in LH D1, but before ECNL, clubs moved players around to make a run at state cup/regionals/nationals anyway...so not much has really changed.

I do agree 100% any tournament worth its salt should have teams playing equitable schedules. In an event as important as state cup, you can't have one team playing their second game in 6 hours while their opponent is fresh. This is state cup - not some bush league revenue generating festival stacked with one club.

Having low seeds play high seeds is appropriate, but a team playing a second game against a rested team is ridiculous and is a huge advantage for the rested team. Not all age groups seem to have this problem each year- but it should be eliminated completely.

Solar 1-0 over Texans Scott, guess that critical ECNL help really wasn't a factor in Solar winning after all!

Solar 3 to 0 win over FC Dallas = Great day for Solar!

Word around the campfire is that Kicks has already qualified for regionals through national league so win or lose tomorrow both kicks and solar will be representing North Texas at regionals, anyone know if that is fact or fiction? If so NT should be well represented.
